Can anyone recommend a good book on dealing with the death of a parent?  I'd like to get something for my 14 year-old daughter, but there are so many books out there on this topic that I'd prefer a personal recommendation.

I dont know any off the top of my head dealing with the death of a parent. But Say Goodnight Gracie by Julie Reece Deaver is an excellent book about dealing with the loss of someone close to you. This book and Bluebirds by David Frasure got me through a really rough time when my bestfriend died at 13. (depending on your religious beliefs, Bluebirds may not be appropriate. it is a "new age" spiritual book dealing with reincarnation)

I hope these may help. ((HUGS))

Here are some excellent books that I can think of:

The Pursuit of Happiness by Tara Altebrando

The Life of Glass by Jillian Cantor

The Survival Kit by Donna Freitas

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Willow by Julia Hoban

Amy & Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

Sea by Heidi Kling

The following are not about the death of a parent, but talk about death and grief similarly, while also providing a good read, hope, and romance:

Saving June by Hannah Harrington

A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley

Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler

I hope these help.
