There is so many books out there it is hard to know what is good and beneficial and what is not.  Recommend a book here and put what you liked about it so you can help others choose their books.

Making the Most of Shade by Larry Hodgson

ISBN: 1-57954-967-5

This guy doesn't just talk about how to create a shade garden and what plants are helpful.  It is almost like an encyclopedia on the plants.  He lists the plants, profile them, give you the pros and cons, and there are pictures so you can even visualize it and say hey I think that might work in my yard.  It is like Shade Gardening 101 for beginners.  Simple, easy, to understand.  Most of the time we just want to know what plants is best for my zone, and how they look.  He delivers.
