I tried looking in the help docs, but can't find the answer. I am not receiving the emails where someone is requesting a book from me. I am receiving emails if someone actually receives a book. The only way I can find out if someone wants a book from me is to go on this website every day just in case.

Thanks. I really should have thought of that (sigh). I did send them a message.

I also no longer get emails from PBS when a book is requested or a wish list is offered. This is now several months. Not a teck so I have no Idea why. Not a big issue for me as I check the site often and am a small timer. Think this has been reported by others.

Mary K. - under my account tab, go to settings & scroll down to email settings.

I agree Towana.  At some point a few months back I stopped getting e-mails and when I went to my settings it was no longer set for me to get them.  I figure it happened with some software tweak along the way.

I've had similar problems - I use Printable Postage - the last 6 book orders I only received the email stating I got the book credit added to my account 3 times, not all 6 times (all seperate orders). I checked my Credit Transactions and the book credits were added to my account, but I never got the usual email giving the thanks etc and telling me that the credit was added to my account for each of these book orders. Only for half of them - interesting...

It's been the same on the SwapaDVD site - I got a notice today (12/30/16) that I had a personnel message in my account. I went to my account and the PM was dated 12/28/16 which was 2 days earlier! What gives...?

To be honest I also get email notices from other sites that I deal with on a regular basis, and many of the notices I get are already outdated - I have to guess my ISP may be at fault, but each time I check my ISP account everything always looks proper.

Sunspots perhaps ? ? ?

There are several places to check where you can pinpoint the problem:

1) First go to your My Account page and click on Club Communications. If the emails show up there, then PBS sent them even if they never showed up in your inbox.

If the emails you expected do not show up on your Club Communications page, then go to My Account / Settings and scroll down to Email Settings. Uncheck all the boxes for the emails you do want to receive. Some of these boxes will get checked if you click on the unsubscribe link that appears in some PBS emails, so you may have thought you were unsubscribing from email about one book and ended up unsubscribing from all emails of that type.

2) Check your spam or junk folder in your email application. Check to see if you have any rules or filters that automatically move any types of emails to the trash.

3) If you normally use a desktop email application, such as Outlook, Mac Mail, Windows Mail, iOS mail, etc; login to the web mail interface for your ISP. Look for settings there that can affect your account and keep your computer, phone or tablet from ever downloading some types of messages. For example, my Time Warner email account has this option for handling junk mail:

Automatically delete, file, or mark junk mail before it reaches your Inbox.
For email identified as junk mail, please choose the filtering action:
Deliver the email
Prefix the email subject with the text "SPAM:" and deliver
Place the email in the Junkmail folder
Delete the email

They are wrong often enough that I would never allow them to just "Delete the email", yet that is the default option that was chosen for me until I went in and changed it. Make sure your ISP does not have the same type of option.

4) Never click on the "Mark as Spam" or "Report Spam" buttons in your email if the message is from PBS. When you do this, you are telling your ISP that all email from PBS should be treated as spam. Some ISPs (AOL and Yahoo are particularly bad) will blacklist a sender who's had a few spam reports and nobody else at that domain will get any email from that sender until the sender figures out that they're blacklisted and calls the ISP to get whitelisted again. If you think you're in this situation, send a feedback message to PBS via the Contact Us link under the Company menu at the bottom of this page. It can take weeks or months to resolve blacklisting problems, so be patient. These ISPs are super slow to respond. (I used to work for a company that sent out email newsletters for charities, and this was a constant thorn in the IT department's side until we got to know the right guys to call at each of the large ISPs.)

5) If all else fails, open a separate free email account for PBS mail and update your account settings. Gmail is pretty good and you can always just forward the mail from there to your regular account if you don't want to set it up to be checked automatically on all your devices.

I almost wish I was having this problem. I get way too many PBS emails even though I have opted out nearly every PBS email that can be opted out except for Wish List - Other Versions.  I wish that I could opt out of more options, especially for the "Book mailed" emails.  I don't need to know by email that a book I requested has been mailed as I can see that in my account.  For the same reason, I don't need to know that I have a PM as I'm always checking my account.

But, for those not receiving any emails, I hope that it gets fixed for you soon.

Thank you for the detailed information regarding email notices and steps to take when notices are not being received. This is very helpful !
