Hello - I am passionate about children's and YA books and also about helping kids find books to read that will light a spark in them as well. I have swapped for so many great books that I have reviewed on my blog and I look forward to swapping for more. If you would like to read my reviews or ask for help finding a book for your reader, please don't hesitate to ask. The best part of my job is putting the right book in a reader's hands and hopefully with my blog I can do that when I'm not at work! Thanks for reading - Tanya @ www.books4yourkids.com

My only grandson turns 4 this summer.  Christmas I brought him Cat in the Hat and Alexander's Really Bad Day and he actually sat with me as I read them to him (a first!).  I have Green Eggs and Ham set aside for when I see him in June but wanted to know what other children's books people might recommend for that age.

With thanks...Jerry

Hello - You are off to a great start with what you bought for your grandson! Through my work at the bookstore, I know a grandmother who buys two of each book then sends one to her granddaughter and then she reads it over the phone to her while her granddaughter looks on in her copy. Her granddaughter just started reading and now reads to her grandmother over the phone! (Dr Seuss, I might add.) Here is a link to my review of the best picture books of 2008 with a lot of other good books mentioned as well. I am the mom of three, the youngest will be 5 this Sept. and I also read story time at the bookstore where I work twice a week. All of the picture books I mention are appropriate for a 4 year old with a good attention span - ie: he is read to often and can sit still and listen for 15+ minutes at a time. http://www.books4yourkids.com/2009/01/best-picture-books-of-2008.html This is a link to a review I did on books that are good to read to kid's on the verge of learning to read: http://www.books4yourkids.com/2008/11/ook-book-and-other-silly-rhymes-by.html Here is a link to a review I did on great fairy tale picture books to read out loud: http://www.books4yourkids.com/2008/11/important-fairy-tale-picture-books.html I also have a section titled "Book Lists" where I list longer books that are good to read out loud to children of various ages. Hope this helps and happy reading!! -Tanya
