I have a children's book with a little plastic strip on the right hand side that has buttons you push to hear sounds that go  with the book.. Is it postable? Can it be sent by media mail?

I wouldn't see why not. I believe most educational items you can ship media. I would post it as long as the sounds are in working order.

I would suggest that you make sure they work too. I posted one like that and it worked but the battery sounded like it may be dying. I had planned on telling the requestor about it when someone requested it but forgot. The battery in the book can easily be replaced.

When she got it well she wasn't to happy. I got a very rude message and she complained about it saying the book was unacceptable. So I ended up giving a credit for her trouble.

Just thought I'd warn you. ; )

Unfoprtunately the batteries for those puppies are expensive - I bought one at Goodwill for $4.00 and the batteries cost me $12.00!!!!  I could have just bought it new!

I won't post them here simply because if the noise happens to "go off" during shipping its likely to trigger the package getting inspected, which slows them down considerably.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I guess I could make sure the battery is dead/removed so no sounds go if in shipping... but I suppose enclosing a new $12 battery replacement would be against media mail restrictions! LOL

I know Michelle (KajunFriend, CF) was looking for those sorts of books for her son at one point.  You might want to PM her and see if she'd be interested.

I wonder if it would help to wrap that noisy end with bubble wrap before mailing?

I would make sure the buttons all work and then post it. If someone orders it, remove the batter and pm them before you send it saying it will need this kind of battery.  Then the transaction can be cancelled if someone has a problem with that.
