This was a very interesting book. It kept me guessing. I was surprised at the ending, which is what you want in a mystery! Although it did have a small lull in action, it was very detailed and vibrant. Every chapter vividly described scenes, situations, food and charactors. I totally lost myself in the book while my three screaming children played. I didn't even notice the noise because I was so interested. Great job! Can't wait to read the next in the series.

I enjoyed the premise of this book, and it had a few twists and turns that I enjoyed. I didn't figure out whodunit until just before the end. I enjoyed the description of the town and love the idea of a town full of bookstores!
The supporting characters are colorful and the foodie and book details add a good dimension.

That being said, I really do not care for the heroine of the series. Trish Miles of all the characters just doesn't click for me. She gives the impression that she's so much better than the others. The things that the other characters do for her are met with sarcasm (albeit in her thoughts) and she seems to be ungrateful for the small niceties that people do for her.
She just rubs me the wrong way.

Nothing her part time boyfriend says or does is right, and her sister can't seem to be the sister Trish wants her to be, even though she has a very strong personality herself.
I may read another installment in the series if I come across it, but I won't seek it out. There are so many other books out there with characters I do enjoy reading about.

Tricia Miles is celebrating the first anniversary of her bookstore, Haven't Got a Clue in the "booktown" of Stoneham, New Hampshire. She's been doing well, and if it weren't for the fact that her sister runs through employees as though there's an endless supply, everything would be close to perfect. Well... except for the influx of Canada geese which means all the business owners have to go out several times a day to clean goose poo off the sidewalks.

It's quite a coup when Tricia manages to snag reclusive writer Zoë Carter for a book signing, but she has good reason to change her mind when Carter's body is found in the book shop restroom. Once again town sheriff Wendy Adams has an excuse to make Tricia's life miserable, and Tricia knows that the only way she'll be able to re-open Haven't Got a Clue is to conduct her own investigation.

Reading Bookmarked for Death is a good way to spend a pleasant afternoon. There's nothing too complicated going on, and although the characterization is a bit stereotypical, I enjoy these people. Tricia is very likable, I want to choke her sister occasionally, and I sincerely hope that Stoneham gets rid of its sheriff. Wendy Adams is the one character that brings this series down for me.

When I first began to read a high percentage of mysteries, a lot of the books I read were cozies like this. My reading tastes have gradually changed over the years, and now the mysteries I read are mainly police procedurals and darker fare. However, from time to time I enjoy reading something that's not so complicated-- something light and fun. This is one of the wonderful things about mysteries: they cover such a broad spectrum that, no matter your mood, you can find a whodunit that will fill the bill.

When you're in the mood for something light, something with a good sense of humor, try Lorna Barrett's Booktown mystery series. They should hit the spot!

Have just found this author - Lorna Barrett - love her. This is the 2nd book in the the Booktown Mysteries series. ( first book - Murder is Binding).
Barret has a good writing style - is easy to read - plots have unexpected twists - a good group of characters - some you will like and some you may not.
Each book has real receipes in the back - which correlate to foods mentioned within the book.
I "think" there are 7 books in this series - I will be sad to read the last one. Looking forward to book number 3...

An engaging cozy whodunit that I would highly recommend reading. I enjoy this second book in the series even more than the first. The development of the characters and their relationships with each other was great!

A nice cozy mystery that takes place in an area of the country that I lived in for many years. Like old home day with lots of action and fun added to the mystery story. Even if you don't know New Hampshire, you will still enjoy the Booktown mysteries. Looking forward to more in this series.

I found this a better read than the first one with much better pacing. I also can't wait to try several of the recipes in the back! The conclusion to the mystery was a little out of left field which is a pet peeve of mine. I also don't like the sherrif. Her grudge against Tricia is just a bit too much to be believed. I thought the relationships between the main character and her staff and her sister developed nicely. This series has a lot going for it but is not an automatic read for me yet.

A mystery bookstore in a quiet little New England town, known as Book Town, a determined heroine, and a murder, assault, and road rage combine to make this a run read. Add in the bookstore's cat, Miss Marple, and you've got a fun read and a good series.

I really enjoyed this book, and did not guess who did it. This series is easy to read, not complex, but you still can not guess who the culprit is. I really like that about a book.

Book #2 in the series. I have enjoyed this series and I even got a good soup recipe from the book. The characters are enjoyable and fun to read about. I would love to visit a place like this that had the variety of stores that they do in the town.

Bookmarked For Death by Lorna Barrett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Bookmarked for Death is the second book in the Booktown Mystery Series by Lorna Barrett. I loved the first book, and this second one did not disappoint me at all. I enjoyed reconnecting with Tricia and her sister, Angelica, coming back to Stoneham, or otherwise known as Booktown.

Tricia owns and runs a mystery bookstore called "Haven't got a Clue", while her sister owns and runs the bookstore next door called, "The Cookery". Although Tricia and Angelica haven't had the greatest of relationships, it is nice to read along and watch them discover new things about each other and bond and build a better relationship than what they had before.

The town of Stoneham, that was dying out, but revitalized when its focus on book sellers and tourist trade was shaped. It just sounds like a place I would love to visit! A town full of bookstores! I mean really, what could be more perfect for someone who likes to read?

Tricia talks a local author into a book signing at her store, but before the night is over finds the author dead in her bathroom. Of course, Sheriff Wendy Adams is still mad at Tricia, and has alot of problems looking past those issues into the murder, wanting to find Tricia guilty, even when he isn't so of course that just means that Tricia will be doing some investigating. What she turns up, shakes her and the town. The best selling books were not written by the author, but by another woman, with a mystery in her life.

I loved this book. I love the idea of Booktown and I enjoy going there in the books. I enjoyed meeting the townspeople, learning more about ones I already knew and growing the town. It has been a blast. I find the mystery and Tricia to be pretty believable as a person and that makes it easier to get into the story.

A great continuation on the lives of Tricia and her sister and the mystery bookstore and the cookery bookstore. Another murder this time in Tricia's store starts another fun search for the killer. Fun reading.

The book is oddly a cheerful mystery. The main character is multi-dimensional so there aren't dead spots in this book

Enjoyed the second in this series, interesting characters, a good mix of age, and good personalities for the main characters. Good fun, developing nicely.
