I've read -and loved! - Tova Mirvis, and just finished reading the Temple Bombing.  All of which has really gotten me intrigued about Southern Jews.   Does anyone have suggestions for other good books?  Either fiction or non.

"The Jew Store" by Suberman is excellant.  Its set in the 1920's about a family that opens a dry goods store in the South.  Unfortunately I gave the copy to a friend of mine who didn't read it.  I won't be able to send it to you cuz she's a smoker.

Another good book is "Chicken Dreaming Corn" by Roy Hoffman, a novel about some Jewish immigrants in Mobile, Alabama in the early part of the 20th century.

It's not a book but did any of you see the documentary a few years back - maybe on PBS - called something like Jews of the Delta? (Mississippi Delta)  It was truly interesting.  I had to laugh when they interviewed a Jewish bubba in a baseball cap in his pickup truck.  I don't mean to offend anyone by that, I'd just never seen anything quite like it, and I live in Kentucky!  I just read what I wrote- I don't mean a Yiddish bubba LOL.

I don't know if this counts, but Pat Conroy's Beach Music is about a Southern Jews, in a roundabout kind of a way. Fabulous book, but it does go to some dark places. But it made me cry, so how can I not recommend it??

Just posted "The Slow Way Back" by Judy Goldman.  Three generations of southern Jewish women.  From cover - "Rich with detail and insight, and satisfyingly honest about the pain of coming to terms with loss and ambivalence".  I could certainly identify even though I was born and raised in the Northeast.
