I requested "The Road" on CD.  The box contains several cds.  One or two of them are marked as replacements of corrupted original cds.  In other words, the original cds maybe had skips on them, so the sender (or someone before him) burned copies of the damaged cds on to replacements.

While I get the intent, is this "legal"?  Can I repost this??  RWAP???

As far as being legal, I don't know.

I don't think it's postable here, though. Our rules is that all audiobooks must be the original media. I would RWAP it.

Here's the club rule. I would just RWAP the set.

Can downloaded/burned/copies of audio books be traded?

No. Please swap only original audio books.

  • Do not swap CDs that have been burned by individuals.
    • There are copyright issues involved for copied material.

    • Also, when copies are involved, there is more room for damaged or unreadable material.

Downloaded audio books (for example, from audible.com) are also not permitted.

  • We know that you paid for these, but we have no assurance that these are the only copies that were made.

They are burned replacements, or something they requested from the company as replacements? Definitely not legit to sent if they were burned, but if they requested replacement discs from the company then it would be fine.

What Melanie said  yes  Allowable if the replacements are from the publisher, not kosher from a member/customer/etc home burned source.

If the replacement disc was burned by a member (or whoever owned it before) wouldn't it be corrupt if the orginal was corrupted? As others have said, it may be a replacement from the publisher.

If the original discs are not included, then it's a copyright violation.

The replacements are disks with a note hand-written on them in permanent marker.  Man, I hate RWAPs.  People usually get so defensive.  Let's hope that's not the case here.

If they publisher had replaced the discs you'd NOT KNOW the difference. They send you the discs that usually look the same as what you have, no mistake and never hand written on.

ILLEGAL to make copies like this.

It's my understanding that you can make a copy of discs you own, for your own use.  But to copy then trade, swap, sell, or gift burned copies is in violation of copyright laws.
