I have an interesting dilemna and I'm wondering if I am out of books and credits.  Earlier this month, I had a sale in the books bazaar and had two PBS'ers order books.  Great!  I sent the books FEDEX because it is cheaper for me if I mail them from my office.  Wonderful,  I thought.  I can track the packages and they will get their sooner than media mail.  Now, my dilemna.

Package 1 was mailed 11/5 and delivered 11/7.  To date, it has not been marked as received.  I sent a PM to check on it - no response.  I checked the recipients profile and it seems to have been deleted all except one line.  She has some activity coming and going but nothing recent and has been a member since August 2006.

Package 2 was mailed 11/9 and delivered 11/15.  To date, it also has not been marked as received   i sent a PM to check on this package - no response. I checked the recipients profile and he has been a member since July 2007, has a few books listed, no wish list and only one book sent out, none received.

Now, I know we have a month to mark them as received before they go "lost" and so I am trying to be patient but my question is, - Do I have any recourse to get my credits, if I know the books were received?  It seems so unfair that someone can let a transaction time out and get thier credit back plus get the books.  One of these was a 2 for 1 and the other was a 5 for 1.   Most would say, "Use PBS DC for quick credit" but it is not terribly convenient for me.  FedEx is easier and due to my companies discounts - cheaper.

If these people do not log into their accounts for 26 days, the system will mark the books as received and you will get your credits.

Whilst I understand you prefer using FedEx, if you can use printable postage via PBS, that, too, will get you your credit, even if the people who requested the books drop off the face of the earth, and you can drop it in blue boxes (mailboxes). Otherwise, there's nothing you can do as far as I know. From the help center:

No other Delivery Confirmation will offer QuickCredit or CreditAssurance at PBS

Do you tell people in advance that you will be shipping by Fedex? I'm just wondering,  because I would have a problem with this, personally.  I live in an apartment & Fedex can't put packages into a mail box.  Fedex also doesn't have anywhere to securely leave my packages when I'm not home (there are more than 1,000 apartment units here, and the apartment will not accept deliveries for tenants).  So, I always have to make special arrangements when something is shipped to me by Fedex or UPS.

It is possible that the package was left/stolen off of a door step, also.

I am having a similar problem...  although I already received my credit since I used printable postage.

But I would like to know that the sender did, in fact, receive the book.  How long is it appropriate to wait before sending a polite PM to remind them to mark a book received?  I have confirmation that the book was delivered on 11/13.

I wouldn't PM until the book went lost by the system.   Just because it has been delivered does NOT mean it was delivered to the right person.
