When I get a new book and mark it mailed, I know that the book goes on my bookshelf on hold and I can post it from there by pushing a button. What is the status of those books---I know no one else can see those books on my shelf, but underneath it says book posted such and such a date. Does this mean that these books are in the FIFO line or not? What I'd like to do just to make things easier and also to serve as a better reminder to me is not have those books there at all, and go through the posting process from either my TBR pile or just by putting the ISBN in again but will it change anything about the status of those books?

My intuitive guess is that those books on hold (the new books I've received) aren't in the FIFO line while they are on hold and deleting them from my bookshelf won't make a difference, but maybe i'm wrong. I searched in the help docs but I coudln't find anything that addressed this particular question--unless I'm totally looking in the wrong place. The only thing I was finding was info about the vacation hold.

Okay--that was what I thought. Guess I was having momentary brain freeze or something ;)

I don't like the books I receive to go on my bookshelf on hold...confuses me.  So I uncheck that box when marking it received

They confuse me too. I had to delete a bunch when they first did this because they had already been sent out.

When individual books are on hold-they are not in the FIFO line. If you post a book and put just that one on hold-it loses it's place in FIFO.  But if you put your whole account on vacation hold-you keep your place in FIFO. It'll just keep skipping you until you unhold your shelf, if you're at the top of the line.  But your books can still move up the line.

If you'd like to leave them on, say for reposting later, or to keep the "footprint" trail, you can also go over to where it says "view all books" at the top of the bookshelf, and change that to "view posted books" any time your working on your shelf.  Just a thought.
