I have a question for you. I'm looking for books for my husband. He likes to read but, he can't seem to stay interested in a book for very long. Are there any books that any men would recommend?

Thanks

What does he usually pick up when he reads?

He reads about knowing God's will, the end-times, study guides...things like that.

My husband is not a reader, so I can't ask him for any suggestions.  Does he like fiction or non-fiction, or both?  My pastor reads quite a bit.  I'd be happy to e-mail him for suggestions.

If he will read Christian fiction, I would suggest anything by W. Dale Cramer.  My husband really likes him and his message.  He just finished "Bad Ground" which he read faster than I have seen him read a  book .  I have read a couple of his and have enjoyed them also.  My husband reads a lot and anytime I can find a good Christian male author I get  their books for him.

Here was the response from my pastor:

The first on my list would be The Shack.  After that it would have to be Mere Christianity – it all depends where his interests lie.  Have a hundred suggestions but I need more info.

And from the pastor's wife (who is also a big reader):

Almost anything by Ted Dekker, he writes novels that my boys really like....I like them too, a bit science fiction type, but Christian none the less.  He has a trilogy called Black, Red and White that is awesome...that would get anyone through the summer

As a man, I would highly recommend:

Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller

Searching For God Knows What by Donald Miller

Mere Christianity by CS Lewis

The Barbarian Way by Erwin Raphael McMannis

Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell

Sex God by Rob Bell

If he likes fiction and wants stories heavy on action but light on preaching, then try Robert Liparulo.  I've been reading all of his books recently and have trouble putting them down.

Some more recommendations (not mine, just passed on):

Decision Making and the Will of God.  I would also suggest The Reason For God by Tim Keller.

Wowo kattkatt99, Anne Rice really? I'll have to check that out. As for some book for my husband I found a new... well, not so new... series by Tim Lahaye called Babylon Rising. I told my husband about it and he's excited. He keeps asking, "did it come yet?"  I really appreciate all your help and I'm still checking out all of the books you ladies have mentioned. Thank you so much!!!
