Sorry pushed the wrong button there on the first.

My question is has anyone noticed in the last month or so the number of books you have mailed that get "lost" in the mail has increased? I have had 8 in the last 5 weeks go missing in the mail and was wondering if there was something wrong with my post office, the way I was mailing the packages or if there is a huge ufo in the sky sucking up the books? Thanks-Misty

I am not sure Misty but I've just got my first "lost" in the mail book after mailing 30 books without a problem and the weirdest thing is that the book I mailed was sent to a person within 300 miles from my home so I thought for sure there would be no problem with this one.  Hopefully that UFO will dump our books soon at the nearest post office! :o)

I was hoping it was just me, I have been swapping here since last spring and mailed over 65 books never a problem but maybe one lost book, now I"ve got 9 sitting in my lost book list. I'm starting to question what is really going on. I wonder if there is anything we can do about it?

Oh yeah - I have had far more than average go lost during the past few months.   Mostly those books coming to me, but some that I've sent also.

I've sent (and received) a lot of books over the past two years and lost books are a real rarity for me. But this past month, I had two go lost (on the way to me) so for me that does seem like a real increase.

I am going to start going to the PO and fill out a lost form everytime one comes up missing, I always get a receipt and keep them until they reach their destination. I agree if we all did that maybe the PO would realize there is a problem.  It just seemed odd to me that after so many months of good swapping no lost books that all of a sudden I've got so many going lost. HMMM maybe they will show back up.

I don't think it's just media mail that's going lost. My brother sent me an invitation to my nieces birthday party 2 1/2 months ago and I just got it on Friday. And they only live 4 towns over!

I've been swapping since July and in August I had tjhree books go lost, two of them showed up.  (They were mailed excessively late, or were returned to the sender and remailed back out).

In the past 3 weeks I've had two books go missing, waited a bit, still haven't received.  One I've gone ahead and reodered and received.  The other had actually been misssent, and was forwarded on to me 3 weeks ago.  I'm not quite sure where it was coming from.

The one from August was coming from Maryland to Delaware.  Short trip.  The two recent ones were coming from NY.  It seems like its the close ones that are going wayward.

As for books I have sent...  All of them have made it.  One took 6 weeks to arrive, but it did make it there.  The recipient was pleasantly surprised to find it in her mailbox one day.

I've just started swapping here within the last month and have had one of mine that I sent go missing and two I was supposed to recieve go missing.  I know my postal carrier was complaining about mail picking up around the holidays?  Maybe that's it...

OK, I was beginning to wonder myself - I sent a book on Oct. 18th that still hasn't been marked received - which seems unusually long.  Still hoping it's not "lost" - just meandering around through the system to quietly turn up one day soon in the requestor's mailbox.  I'm fairly new here, so I wasn't sure if I should start to worry or not.   But then, I'm a worrier.  I worry about whether or not to worry...

Please Remember that with the Fires in California, and the Tornados in the Mid-West, there are bound to be some problems.

I've had a problem with something (not a book) that I sent out after selling it on eBay.  First, it was returned to me, a week after I mailed it, them I mailed it again (first class) on Oct 26th, and as of yesterday, the other person still has not received it.
