Books were requested from me (4), sent with Delivery Confirmation.  Books were out for delivery yesterday (12/6) and Details shows they were refused by the receiver.  I understand that Media Mail isn't returned to the Sender, so now are the books lost to me?  If they do happen to be returned will I be responsible for postage for their being returned?  I've never had this happen before. Do TPTB ever become involved in this sort of thing?  The receive is a long time member of PBS.  Thanks for any info anyone can give.  Pat

It's possible that they were delivered to the wrong house and that person put refused on them.

Not sure what to do other than contact PBS and ask them how this should be handled.

Thanks.  I did send a PM to the requester and asked them if there was a reason for the refusal. Haven't heard back from them yet.  Pat

If the member did refuse the books, then please do report it to PBS. This is really frowned upon. We are required to provide an up to date address.

Media Mail does not include forwarding or return. The post office seems to handle each package differently. Some are returned postage due.

If you used PBS DC, you should have your credits. If you used non PBS tracking, I recommend you to provide PBS the numbers if the book was actually refused. PBS has been known to manually transfer the credits when the receiving member did not follow the rules.

Emily - thanks - will wait a day or so to see if I hear from the requester before contacting PBS.

I did use PBS DC.  The USPS Tracking Site says the package will be returned to me - whether it will be I'll just have to see.

All is well.  She did get the books and has posted them as received.  She thought maybe the carrier hit the wrong button, but all ended well.  Pat

I was thinking it could be something like snow was blocking her mail box and the wrong code was used. Sounds more like button pushing while wearing gloves.  Glad the books are not going into the black hole of undelivered media mail.

My first thought is always "carrier pushed the wrong button."  I would say I'm too cynical, but maybe not....
