I am a new member. My mother (I am her caregiver) and I are avid readers of mostly fictional historical romance. Since she is confined to her chair she can read a novel every day or so. I work and have a family so my reading is cut down to 2-4 novels a month. So we are going through books in a hurry. When I first posted some books I got a short flurry of requests but those have tapered off to nothing. I only have 33 books on my PBS list at this time but since we go through books so quickly they can quickly take over the book shelves in my house so I need to send those away to make room for more (I have many books lining the shelves that I plan to keep, so not a lot of room for paperbacks we just read once). I don't have room to keep the books we plan to get rid of on the list for a long time. What do most people do? Do most people post the books for a month and if not requested, donate them (or what ever you do with them) and make room for more? Perhaps I am being unrealistic on the amount of transactions I had hoped to see.  I'm not familiar with PBS other options such as Box o Books to see if that makes my books easier to find. This is the first book swap club I have joined, and so far the experience has been great! Thank you for your input.

Of course, NOW I read the "tips for new members" post and that answered my question. :)

Hi Donna, Welcome to PBS

Mrs Right will be along and can give you the low down on box of books.

You could also advertise in the book bazaar  2 books for 1 credit  or something like that.  It cuts down on postage and you are able to move your books.

You can also post in the genre forum in the red sticky at the top of the page.

Sometimes posting will bring in some requests from your bookshelf - I myself prefer to order from members I know frequent the site.  After submitting this reply I will check your book self.

Oh you can also post in this thread on the book bazaar --http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=168023

Have you considered doing Box of Books? You could trade those books that aren't moving for books you haven't read yet.  It's $9 to join but then no credits are involved and you save postage money buy mailing more books out at a time.  I have my BOB on hold right now but I've used to get rid of a lot of heavily posted books and trade them for ones I haven't read yet.

Also you don't have to have a large book shelf to do BOB.  I rarely have more than 50 books posted at once and usually my shelf has only around 30 books.

Just a quick note, the Box o Books service is only $8 a year (and purchasing it helps to fund the site).

You can run specials and advertise them in your sig.  Which is only really helpful if you do very much forum posting, btw.  I do a good bit of posting, so it works for me.  I don't like doing BB specials because I don't want to juggle requests, and spend the day monitoring threads after I post them.  You can also post deals on your bookshelf header.  That way anyone looking at your shelf can see if you're running a special, and may order extra books.  I get some that way too.
