I'm wondering whether this site has something set up to send books to soldiers. Would it be at the discretion of the sender (willing to pay extra postage)?

Thanks :-)

We have many military personnel who are active traders on this site!  I have sent probably 2 or 3 books to soldiers in my time here and gotten a couple from them as well.  They get requested through the system like other books.  The postage cost is the same as sending a book to anyone else.

I have gotten responses to deals I have posted where the requestor has mentioned that the books are going to be shipped to troops overseas.

operationpaperback.org is one that I have used to send books to troops.  you can either send specific books via the requests or you can just send books of what you have.

Thanks for the links to those sites, guys. Does anyone know if they require the books sent to be in perfect condition? I have a book Id like to send, one thats considered unpostable here (because there is a small tan stain on the bottom of the last six pages) but its certainly not unreadable.

Erin, as long as the book is in good condition and not falling apart and not disgusting, they seem to be ok with anything.

Just remember, packages sent to APO/FPO/DPO addresses require a Customs declaration and have to be brought to the PO.

One thing about it - Iraq and Afganistan aren't humid areas so they probably won't mind a minor water stain!  I'm not sayng dump all your water stained ones on soldiers - but their danger from mold and mildew is much less there!
