Can anyone recommend a book that doesn't have any sort of murder mystery, suspense plot, or spy. They seem to few and far between these days, and I am in the mood for a book that the main focus is really on the romance, and not the action. I like Susan Elizabeth Phillips for just that reason, but I have read most of hers, and I can't read them back-to-back or I get burnt out.           Nora Roberts...ditto

I don't care if it is historical or contemporary. Apparently there are more historicals that focus just on the H/H, but lately even those all seem to have a spy or mystery or someone being the "eviiill villian", lol

ETA...wishing for sepell check

I am currently reading Seaspell by Bronwyn Williams.  It is really good.   Just finished Seaspell.  It was a really good romantic novel.  No suspense..just good ole romance.

A couple of my favorites:

Texas Destiny by Lorraine Heath

Simple Jess by Pamela Morsi

I just finished Redemption by Carolyn Davidson, which was really good also - and no dastardly villain  :P

Silhouette Special Editions are almost pure romance, no suspense to them.  There's also the Harlequin Superromance line.

Have you tried  Johanna Lindsey?  Not her recent books, her older ones.  Warrior Woman, Secret Fire, Hearts Aflame and so on

Karen Robards historicals, This Side of Heaven, Forbidden Love...I dont think these have any murder, etc...

Linda Howars older books, Duncan's Bride, Come Lie With Me...

Meagan Mckinny, When Angel's Fall, most of her older books focus on the h/h.

Two of my favorite authors for "non-suspense" are Catherine Anderson and Robyn Carr. There are always obstacles for the couple, but for the most part the romance is the focus.

Sabrina Jeffries books don't feature villians in them, not that I can remember anyway.

If you like sports themed ones, I really enjoyed Kate Angell's (Squeeze Play, Curveball, and Fast Break).  And Marie Force's Line of Scrimmage was good, too.  Just romance, pretty much.

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies.

I actually just picked up Texas Destiny for a buck at a UBS the other day. I think I'll start it next.

If anyone has any more suggestion of books, sans cops and robbers...keep 'em coming

One book I've really enjoyed recently is The Rules of Gentility .
