I've seen books go in crazy directions before, but perhaps yours wanted to see Disneyland?

Could also be a glitch in the data base. CA instead of VA altho why a stop in Virginia enroute to North Carolina is necessary illudes me. Be thankful you don't live anywhere near Egg City New Jersey I swear that place is a portal to the Twilight zone.

I'm having a similiar weirdness.  I ordered two books and they are supposed to be coming to me in Asheville, NC.  How did they get missent to League City, TX?  I wonder if they will be returned to the sender or sent on to me?  I've had books go on magical mystery tours before, but the "undeliverable as addressed" has me scratching my head.

I had a book go from NJ to MD by way of Michigan, but it did arrive eventually, so I wouldn't give up hope.

Sarah, I've had the "Undeliverable as Addressed" problem before.  It happens when the book gets sent to the wrong zip code.  In both cases, the sender's post office entered the wrong zip code for the sticker that is added to the label.  The label was correct, but the scannable sticker was wrong.  The books should be returned to the sender, who can then take them to the post office and have them resent at no cost, as long as the original package was addressed correctly.

I suspect that's what happened to my books too, but they haven't started the return journey yet.

I looked up the zip code for League City, Texas and it wasn't even close to mine.  That was one serious typo if the problem was that the zip code was entered wrong.

I wouldn't worry.  I don't fully understand it, but there is an actual "rerouting" system that some mail carriers use like USPS that does not adhere to the idea that the shortest distance from A to B is a straight line. I've had things go in crazy directions "in-state" before finally getting to me.  You're dates are still pretty close together.  If it's still going all over the place after about a week to week and half, you might start thinking about beginning to worry.

At least they're on the way.  I ordered a book two months ago -- sender forgot to mark it mailed and sure as heck it went lost.  I re-ordered it.  Second sender marked it mailed with PBS confirmation.  She never mailed the book and it's going to go lost next week.  Maybe the third time will be a charm.

Other than being in the same state, the book is nowhere near Disneyland.  Richmond is in Northern CA (close to where I live) and Disneyland is in Southern CA (about a good 8 hour drive away - assuming traffic is OK with no major backups down south).

Seems like we discovered the issue of cost overruns for the USPS!

The books have made their way to Bell Gardens, CA.  At some point, they'll have to make the journey back east.  Maybe the USPS got confused and thought "NC" stood for "Northern California."

I was thinking the same thing, Jeanne.  And my books are now in North Houston, TX.

Oh no, they're in mail gaol at Bell Gardens, I hope they have a short sentence, and are released somewhat quickly.

As of this morning, the package was in Greensboro, NC.  The books have made the trip back east and will likely be delivered to me tomorrow after quite a cross-country journey!

It's like suddenly the USPO has some kind of terror of NC and is avoiding it at all costs.

My books have been delivered.  They had a nice little vacation in Texas.  I'm glad they were sent on to me and not returned to sender.

Check to see if they picked up a bit of a Texas accent on the way...

If you ask me (and I realize no-one has) the post office's new software upgrade is a disaster. Twice now my branch has sent a (non pbs) package correctly addressed for Canada to Cape Verde. I'm pretty sure that's a costal town in South America. Once I could brush off as operator error, they are right next to each other in the listings. But Twice in one month? Something's gotta be hinky with the system.

I had to look it up.  Not terribly close to Canada.

But looks like a really nice spot to stretch out with a good book...

Wow, same thing for me on a book I requested.  It came from PA, went to CA, then back to Texas.  The book I ordered was "GONE".  I thought for sure it was "Gone" on a cross country road trip.

I also have a book that's currently taking an exciting trip around the United States.

So far it's travelled to MD -> NC. Which is a very roundabout way to get to NY.
