If I put my shelf on vacation hold can I still add books to it without having to send them out? I need to save money for a bit, but I don't want to have to keep book posted and not posted seperate.

Yes, the books you add while on vacation hold are automatically put on hold as well.

UNLESS they are wishlisted.   Any wishlisted books you post will go straight to the wishlist que and will be requested by the next person in line in the wishlist.

Are you sure about that Lynne? I think it was changed a year or so ago so that all books posted while you are on hold also go on hold.

Cathy, if it changed they didn't change the help docs because I thought that same thing and according to the help docs what Lynne said is true.  doesn't make a lot of sense though

Ok, i am going to try this. I will put my own account on hold and then post one of my own wish listed books that's on auto-request and I'm first in line for. I will be back to let you know what happens.

----------------------

i'm back. I put my account on hold and verified that I had the red box at the top of my bookshelf indicating I was on hold. Then I posted two books. Both of them are on my wish list on auto-request and I do have credits available in my account, so if they were going to be offered to anyone, they should have been offered to me. For one of them I'm 1 of 1, and the other I'm 1 of 2. Neither one was put in a wish list hold. Both of them appeared on my bookshelf and I was able to delete both of them before taking my account off hold. So if the help docs still say wish list books will go into circulation right away, I think they need to be updated.

If you'd like to confirm this with two accounts, put your account on hold and then post ISBN 9780321268778. I'm the only wisher for that one, so if it does get offered to me, I'll decline and then you'll be able to delete it from your bookshelf.

Nice experiment, but I'm not sure that the system will allow you to send a book to yourself.  I say this because there is no "order" button for a book you have on your own bookshelf.  I think your 2 account experiment will be the clincher.

I think it will offer you your own book if you post a book that's already on your wish list. I haven't actually confirmed that, but I'm relying on this account that was posted a few days ago: http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=130883

Also, I did post one book where I'm 1 of 2, figuring that if it didn't offer to me it would go to wisher #2 and then I'd just apologize and cancel, but that didn't happen. If you try the 2 account test and it works, let me know.

When I had my account on hold I posted WL books and it put them on hold.  Once I posted it directly to someone's WL and it went on my shelf on hold. When I took my account off hold, it put it to FIFO instead of the person I had posted it to originally.
