This was a great addition! It reaquainted me with the characters from "A Dangeerous Love". There was alot of history as Beatrice usually does. You fall rightinto love with Ellen and Duncan!

I enjoy all of Ms. Small's books. The way she weaves her story through actual history really makes her books come alive for me. The Border Lord's Bride is no exception. The detail and development of characters makes me want the story to continue on and on.

I have read everything she has written and make sure I get them in hard back. I love the way she writes and is able to draw you into the period she is using. Her Historical facts are increditably accurate and her discriptions let you visualize everything beautifully. I have yet to read a book by her that I didn't have a hard time putting down.

I don't understand what this book was supposed to be. A boring recitation of historical events? A romance novel? Literary porn? There was no chemistry between the characters. The book moves from irrelevant-to-the- plot rambling monologues on historical events, to completely cringe-inducing descriptions of violence done to women, to unbelievable plot points. Rape of women is so commonplace that the heroine doesn't get too bothered by it, but even when the plot logically is begging for it to happen to her, it magically does not. Not that I want any character to be raped, but it rang completely false and ridiculous to me. It was a terrible book. I can't believe I actually finished it.

I love Bertrice Small and this is one of her less sexually explicit texts. It is awesome to have a strong female lead instead of a simpering fool waiting to be rescued. (spoiler)I also like how they get to know each other before getting married. Life is not all fireworks and you should have a mate who is your friend too.
