If there is a borders store closing around you, check out the romance books they are all 30% off.  Non-romance HC/Paperback all genre are 25%.  eReaders are on sale too, but not at all store locations have them available.  The Sony PRS350 was $35.00 off the orignal price.

I've been to my local store that is closing - I'm thinking of going again tomorrow after work to give it one more look-see in case there's something I want.

Don't need more books but can't resist a discount.

Mine hasn't said they are closing but I went recently to use up a gift card and there were some slim pickins there so I'm thinking it will be soon. crying

I went to the local Borders (same one as Gail's) when the sale first started. All the books were 20% off then.  I've been tempted to go back but I really have a ton of books already and the mark down isn't enough to make me keep going back.

I finally got to the store today and bought some trade size erotica, a Dee Davis trilogy I didn't have, and a new (reprint) copy of a 1992 Barbara Metzger trad Regency. There are still a few titles I want, some other titles I'm just not sure I have and hate to buy twice, even with the discount.

I was sorry the mysteries didn't have a bigger discount - the romance section was picked over more than when I went Presidents' Day weekend but there were still a lot of books. The mysteries seemed to be barely touched.

I popped in again last night and picked up a few more books.  I really didn' t need them but oh well. Only 1 was on my WL (taking up 4 spots) and 2 of hte others were books I didn't know about from author's I really like.

I have been to mine a few times and picked some books up both times. I got an Amy Fetzer for a great price. I will be sad to see ours go. That was the last new book store that we had in town. So I hope that BN decides to open back up again in our mall.

there are a handful of books i intend to buy if they make it down to 40% at the local store.  so far, so good - and i'll check again tomorrow.  the prices were reduced again, so i'll see if romance has dropped below the 30% off it started at, or if all books including romance are now 30% off.

but geez, the local Borders Express at the mall which is not closing (and is not nearly as convenient for me) has pretty slim pickings on new releases.  it looks like most are being shown as 'online only', but the 'ship to store' option on borders.com, which all the help & people say should still work and be ok to ship to the Express, is not working.

We went in a couple of days after they put the closing signs out. They told me that the ereaders weren't on sale. I was going to go ahead and buy a Cruz reader from them. The idiot went in the back and brought out the reader and when I went to check out he had brought out a tablet. Then they told me that they were all sold out. I went ahead and went to Best Buy and got it for $119, $30 cheaper than it was at Borders.

My daughter and me went in last week and I got a gel skin for my Cruz. Now I've heard that several people have mentioned that most of the Borders that are closing sent all their ereader to stores that weren't closing.

I guess not all the Border stores that are closing are selling their eReaders at a discount.  I don't know if this could be the reason, but the one that is selling at a discounted price, is a Borders Express and it is the only store in NH closing.  The eReaders are down to $125.99 ... only last week I purchased mine at $143.99.

The selection is not that great now and Friday they will drop their books again.  I am not sure the percentage.  Romance is at 40% and other genre are now 30%, prehaps 50% and 40%???

Yeah I went today, and came out with some books and two book shelves. The sales girl told my husband that we could put our own borders with those shelves, then my ever loving husband said, well with the books my wife has we now can...I don't have a book problem dangit,  I don't wink

Has anyone's Borders actually closed yet?

Last time I spoke with the clerk here she only said "by April" - I'm thinking of taking one last run up there after work today just in case the mysteries have a bigger discount now, and maybe get a few romances.

I don't know when my Borders is closing I have not asked but I did get an email from Borders today saying they lowered prices again.  Everything is now 40-60% off.  I plan on taking a trip out there today.

i visited my closing store today, and books were 40% off, romance 50% off.

i picked up 3 sf&f books (including the one trade paperback i've been waiting for 40% off to get), and one romance.  there's still several trade paperbacksin the romance section i might pick up later.

They apparently just released another list of stores closing.   They added more on the 17th.

That's a shame - makes you wonder where it's all going to end. Looks like a runaway train.

I was going to stop at ours on my way home from a day out with a friend but the mall was packed, plus there was some kind of accident just below where Borders is - cruisers, 3 ambulances, traffic jammed - so I decided to go home. This a.m.'s e-mail said final days, so I'm going up after work on Monday.

I accidentally met a friend at the compounding center after work yesterday and she had just gone to the store and said there were quite a few romances left but she only bought 3 that were on her shopping list already.

If I find something, that's good. If not, I'll mourn the loss of another book store. I'm so sorry to see it go.
