I know it's not news that many stores are closing, but WOW did I get some bargains yesterday. Friday, April 15th  is the last day for the store I visit (and love!). I happened to stop in yesterday and everything left was 90% off.  Naturally, it was pretty picked over but there was a surprisingly large selection in the romance section with a LOT of paranormal left.  And even some of the larger $12-17 softcovers that are more toward the erotica genre.

I got two big sacks of books for $15.  So I guess that's $150 worth of new books. And I resisted anything that was just so-so on my interest level or it would have been 3 or 4 sacks.

Now - the problem is that those books calling to me to drop everything and read, rather than the other things I should be doing. And I really, really cannot give in as there are some deadlines I must meet.

PBS friends - please send mental waves of willpower reinforcement my direction!

Too funny that you posted this - I went and did NOT resist temptation....you were much better than me!!  I got a TON of books for 80% - 90% off plus our 10% extra for our Borders Rewards card.  The huge majority of them were 90% off.  In case anyone is interested in the kinds of books left, I'll post a list here of what I got, I made one up for my own records - this is a copy and paste.

Actually, anyone want to tell me if any of these are really good??  Or if any of them are awful??  Not all of these are paranormals, but most of them are.  If I was interested at all in the book I threw it in my cart lol.  Good thing I'm a fast reader lol.   I've already ordered some of the missing books in series here on pbs, like the L.A. Banks ones I'm missing, the Denise Mina one I'm missing, and the Judi Fennell one I'm missing.

Yep, I sure did....crazy, right?  I've already shipped 8 of them to friends and my Mom.  I also sell on Amazon a little (I'm not a big seller there)  and bought a bunch of technical books for there.  I hope to sell just a few of those and pay for ALL my resale books and ALL my personal books too.  I've already sold one there.  NO fiction for Amazon though, they were all big computer programming books and textbooks.

And many of them were .80 minus a 10% discount so only .72 each - cheaper than my thrift!!

The most I spent on any one book was $3.40 but those were the big expensive books.

Carmen, you got some good books.  Jared by Sarah McCarty is actually the second book in the series.  Caleb is first and I would recommend reading Caleb first or Jared isn't going to make sense.  I love Sarah McCarty.  I am not a big historical reader but I have liked all of her books.  I haven't read Mortal Sins or Blood Magic by Eileen Wilks but I have heard good things about the series.  You might want to see about the other books in the series to see if you can read them out of order.  Eternal Flame by Cynthia Eden is the third book in a series.  The other two books are Eternal Hunter and I'll Be Slaying You.  The books are a trilogy and you might want to read the other two first.  Once Bitten, Twice Dead and A Darker Shade of Dead by Bianca D’Arc are also part of a series.  If you look them up in PBS it says Once Bitten, Twice Dead is book two but honestly I don't know what book one is.  A Darker Shade of Dead is book four.  The book you are missing is Half Past Dead.  You could read the books without Half Past Dead but the books build on one another.  I have not read Lady of Light and Shadows, Queen of Song and Souls, Crown of Crystal Flame, and King of Sword and Sky they are in my TBR pile.  I have heard good things about them though.

Arica - thank you so much for the advice. I actually have Caleb.  And I forgot to mention I have read all the Gerry Bartlett Vampire books already so was thrilled to find the newest one (it was on wishlist!!).    I am going to check all the things you said and start ordering some books, I need a few more to read lol!!!  THANKS so much - you were a big help!! :)

I couldn't stand it. Today was the final day and I had to stop in again, just for old times sake.  Really - I didn't expect to buy anything. My two bags from Wednesday haven't even been unpacked yet. However what was left of the romance section was 6 for $3 (books priced 6.99 & 7.99).  Rest were 90% off. I bought 35 more books. Turns out there was an addtional "last day" discount on top of that at the register.

The poor checkout person had to hand enter a long code on each and every book to knock it down to the discount. I felt bad for her having to do that 35 times, but she was cheerful and efficient.

The 3 sacks of books had a retail value of about $260. I expected to pay $22 (plus tax) and the final total was just over $18 (incluidng tax) after the extra discount. Wow - what a bargain!

Yes - but where the heck do I PUT them. Bookshelves full. Bins under my bed full. The stack drawers I bought for the closet are full. I have have stacks of books on the floor by the couch in my home office.  I guess i need to read fast and get rid of them.

Jo - I know what you mean, I have too many also! LOL!!  I have managed to sell 6 or 7 of my computer books and exam books on Amazon so far, that is helping with the cost of my books.  But I do have too many that I want to keep until I read them lol!!  I have already read 2 of my new books, one has already been posted and the other is going to my Mom.  I do have to keep everything else going in life, not just read all the time....no matter what I really want to do! :)
