It's always great to return to familiar characters. This book kept me turning the pages until the end. That Eve Dallas is quite a crime solver!

As always, a great read in the series. Adds a fabulous smattering of baby humor as Dallas deals with the final stages of Mavis' pregnancy and childbirth.

This is an excellent series! If you are not familiar with this series, it is Nora Roberts writing as JD Robb and is a combination of all the best - Sexy Romance, Science Fiction & Murder Mystery all combined in one. This is #25 is the series and if at all possible you should try to start reading from the first book!

A pretty good book with lots of twist and turns but you could put it down at night and pick it up the next day. Not all that thrilling. Or at least not to me. hehehe A light read.

i love this series and this one is just as inventive and captivating as all the rest---sue

Another excellent JD ROBB story about Eve and Roarke. Although death is an ever present threat this has some really amusing lines and situations.

A good installment in the "In Death" series, though maybe not as exceptional as some, in the actual mystery/crime action/adventure department...
My favorite part of this book was that it takes place during the advanced pregnancy of Mavis Freestone, Eve's best friend. In a previous book, Eve & Rourke got rooked into being birthing coaches and the book opens with them, horrified and traumatized, watching videos of live birth and learning breathing techniques they'll have to know on the big day.
This book was funnier and lighter than the usual offering in this series, and Rourke & Eve's child-like "eeeeeeuuuw!!" about all the baby and birthing stuff is well written and entertaining to read. They kind of make me think of my young nephews when you suggest that at some point, they may want to kiss girls instead of yanking their braids and tormenting them...the look of disgusted disbelief that comes over their little faces - yup, that's the same feel.

Eve Dallas is not afraid of anything except being with Mavis in the delivery room! A wonderful Eve Dallas story.

EXCELLENT! Had some moments where you were laughing. Showed a different side of Eve and Roarke.

Born in Death starts out very fast, but about midway thru becomes somewhat draggy.
This was my first J.D. Robb reading; I may never read another one.

Another winner! These books make my commute survivable! Listening to Susan Erickson's vocal characterizations is like listening to a full-cast radio play. The homicide mysteries, while gorier than I like, are not simplistic and easily solved with miraculaous plot twists. It's clear that Eve and her team work for their results, and that puts the work the rest of us do into perspective.
Loved it! I ordered 2 of this series and have been looking for more. These are some of the best I have read lately!
Robb is the best writer I've known. She gets your attention and holds it all the way through. You never want to put her books down.
Eve Dallas has 2 murders to investigate while Mavis is about to give birth. Dallas & Rourke are to be there for the birth, not a favorite thing for either one.
Good, one of the best of the series
Great read -- fast-paced and fun.
I didn't like this one as much as others in the series. It just couldn't keep my attention.
this was my first In Death book and I was not impressed. It was okay, but I wasn't sitting on the edge of my seat. I am usually a quick reader and can finish off three books a week --but it took me two weeks to get through this one.
With the arrival of Mavis's much anticpated baby and the recruitment of Eve and Roark as unwilling birth coaches, this installment of the In Death series has become my favorite.
Filled with the gritty action and precise, hard-nosed determination Eve demonstrates with every case, this story also brings a lot of light moments and laugh out loud hilarity at the horror Eve and Roark feel facing the birth of Mavis and Leonardo's child. In her typical fashion, Eve manages to solve three homicides and take down a baby selling ring in the process. Surprising that something as minor as the birth of a child could send this tenacious seeker of justice to her knees. I hope this series continues for a very long time and I'm looking forward to the next book with eager excitement and anticipation.

another winner from JD Robb! Sad, but riveting.
Very good as always
Once these started coming out in hardcover, I've been unable to wait months for the paperback.I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York City is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.
I really enjoyed this book. It got me hooked on the In Death series.
Interesting plot- a real page turner!
The "...IN DEATH" series, without a doubt, is one of the best. The perfect mix of mystery, psychological thriller, and romance, each book in this series always offers up a reading delight.
Once again, Eve Dallas is faced with solving a horrific crime. This time, as often happens with Dallas, the death of a young account executive and her financial manager fiance brings her own strong emotions into the mix. Since she's already dealing with the imminent arrival of Mavis's baby, the fact that she and Roarke are to serve as birthing coaches, and not to mention the baby shower she must throw for her friend before that happens, Eve's nerves are already stretched thin.
When Mavis's pregnant friend, Tandy, goes missing, Dallas now finds herself working two cases simultaneously. The two start off on different paths, but by the end of the investigation she might find that they have a lot in common--including new life and new death.
When questions of ethics are thrown into the mix by Whitney and his superiors, the crap hits the fan, and Eve and Roarke must put aside pride and anger to deal with their relationship, while still working on justice for the murder victims.
BORN IN DEATH is another winner in this series. As always, I raced through the book in record time, and was sad to be finished with the story when it ended. I can't wait for the next release, and hope to be able to see Eve and Roarke finally get that vacation they both deserve. And, if I get to read about them running naked on the sand under a bright sun, I probably won't complain!

Good read. Yet another of Nora Roberts/Robb great books.
Mavis is due to give birth very soon when her birth coaches, Eve and Roark, become involved in a double murder. Then a very-pregnant friend of Mavis' goes inexplicibly missing and Mavis enlists Eve and Roark to find Tandy before she gives birth. Two cases, two murders (and more), two near-term pregnant women...what a book! Quite a rush!
Love the "Born in" books! Eve and Roarke are always entertaining and the dynamic is great. All of them have been suspenseful and hard to put down.
Another great book in a great series. Love em all.
Another excellent Eve Dallas story! Gotta love J. D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts)!! And Susan Ericksen is fantastic!!! She does great voices!! I think she really makes the audio something special!
Mavis and Leonardo's baby arrives!
Eve Dallas is the good friend we would all like to have and the fantastic dectective we would all like to know was on our local police team. Good read.

EXCELLENT! These books just get better and better.
I love this series and this book is a great addition.
Another winner.
this is one of the best series I have ever read
"Just as Eve Dallas begins to investigate the grisly double homicide of two young lovers--both employees of the same prestigious accounting firm--her friend Mavis needs a favor. One of the moms-to-be in Mavis's birthing class has gone missing. Normally, such a case would be turned over to Missing Persons. But Mavis wants no one else on the job but Eve--and Eve can't say no.
Now Eve's trying to track down the missing woman, while simultaneously unearthing the deals and double crosses hidden in the files of some of the city's richest and most secretive citizens, in a race against this particularly vicious killer. Luckily, her husband, Roark's expertise comes in handy with the number crunching. But as he mines the crucial data that will break the case wide open, Eve faces an all-to-real danger in the world of flesh and blood."
Mavis and Leonardo's baby is born too!! I love this series of books!!

All of the 'In Death' series books are great. I always try to save the latest 'In Death' book until the next one comes out. Then I know I will always have one great book on my shelf to read.
This is certainly just as good if not better than any of Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb books, I think she gets even better with time.. I look for her next one to be released even before I finish the one I am reading... Love the J.D. Robb in Nora Roberts
Really a good 'read'!
AWESOME as usual.
Finally...the long awaited birth of Mavis and Leonardo's baby, with Eve and Roarke as coaches.
J.D. Robb does not fail to deliver another great "Death" book. She cannot write them fast enough for me.
I really liked this book!
This whole series rocks!

From Publishers Weekly
Set in New York City in 2060, bestseller Roberts's latest police thriller under her Robb pseudonym in her Lt. Eve Dallas series (Naked in Death, etc.) offers her usual engaging characters. Dallas's investigation of the brutal murders of Natalie Copperfield, a 26-year-old accountant, and Copperfield's boyfriend becomes entangled with the search for Tandy Willowby, a pregnant friend who mysteriously vanishes shortly before her due date. Dallas discovers that Copperfield had stumbled on some white-collar fraud at her high-profile accounting firm, while Willowby's disappearance may be part of a series of abductions. Predictably, the two cases converge, and the mystery's solution becomes obvious. Newcomers, who may be dismayed at how little things will have changed in more than 50 years, would do better to start with earlier books in this near-future suspense series. (Nov.)
