I hope I am saying this right. I have read that a person can join the box of books for $8.00 a year. I was wondering if you still have to pay to ship your books off. Do any of you the acocunt that I am talking about?

I want to save as much money as I can on shipping.

Yes, you pay for the shipping.  The $8 is just for the membership.  What you save on shipping multiple books is well worth it.

Thanks for the replies.

How many books can you put in the box and how much will it cost?

You can mail as may books as you like. There is no limit that I've found. The cost depends on the weight of the books and the packaging. It truly is cheaper to mail more than one book at a time. I love BOB. I have gotten quite a few books off my reminder list this way instead of wasting a credit on them. I mainly use my credits for my wishlist which is all on autorequest. Hope you have as much fun as I've had! LOL!

^ I totally agree...I use my BoB for books I want off of my Reminder List that have more than a few copies in the system. I use most of my credits for WL books and books that have fewer copies in the system.  I have only done 3 swaps, but have agreed to 2 more, and I feel like I have (or will have) gotten my money's worth before I've even been a BoB member for a month!

You become a member and  people make book trade offers to you or you make them to others.  So the size of the box just depends on the deal you work out with the other member.  The postage is based on the number of books you mail.  It's a great way to get and get rid of books that are very common to PBS.  I personally prefer smaller BOB trades. Mostly because I never find more than a couple books I want on someone's shelf.  Also because then I don't have to dig up a box to package them up in for mailing. But some people prefer to only do larger boxes.  Also if you join-don't be afraid to turn someone down.  You'll get a lot of BOB offers when you first join. If they don't have books you want then just say no.
