Question for those of you who do the BOB.  I have a transaction that was aceepted by both parties on 11/3 and printed by both of us on 11/3.  I mailed my box on 11/6 and it has not yet been marked received.  Also, the other person has not even yet mailed their box to me.  I have sent two PM's to this person and have not received any response from either one.

Any advice?

Thanks

Kristi

Hi Kristi,

From the Help Center:   What if I never receive my Box-O-Books?

If you have agreed to a Box-O-Books swap and the other Boxer's books don't arrive (or if the swap is not marked mailed by a week after it was accepted), you should contact the other Boxer using the Personal Message button on the swap, to ask if the Box was mailed (or when it might be mailed).

If the other Boxer does not respond to your Personal Message within a week, you should contact us and we will look into the situation.

*********

IF it has been more than a week since you sent the PMs, I would go ahead and contact the Team.

OK, so now I am extremely frustrated.  I contacted PBS and they wrote me and told me that they have suspended this person's account until they fulfill their side of the transactions as she has SEVERAL one sided trades.  So basically as far as I am concerned I am out the three books I sent her, plus since I REALLY want to get started on this series, I have to turn around and order the first book so I can start on it as I have the next 4 in the series already!  Knowing my luck as soon as I do this she will ship them and I will have 2 copies, but if I never order it she will never ship...Maybe she just plain won't ship period either

This seems to be happening to several people lately.  I have two 'pending' swaps where the other members' accounts are now suspended or closed, and PBS told me they both had several incomplete swaps.  It really stinks!

I wonder if people get so excited they jump in "whole hog" and find themselves overwhelmed after a time has passed then it gets embarrassing and the so-called anonymity of the internet is their answer.  After all, what caan be done to them?  It is also too bad that people who join don't always come in with a "Golden Rule" attitude.  If this problem gets bigger or more frequent I could see some limiting of the number of trades a new member could be held to for "period" of adjustment so to speak!

This is why I only do small 1-4 book trades.  When I first signed up for BOB I got offers for like 20 books at a time. That's just too big a risk to me even if it's a longtime member with a lot of trades.  You just never know.

It's happened to me too. Very frustrating. I know that I won't be renewing my boxer membership when it expires. Not worth it. I will just stick with regular trading.

yep- ive been burned recently on a big bob

i suggested to tptb that in addition to the $8.00 fee that several credits might need to be held to keep everyone honest, and also require a delivery confirmation #...

How do you envision the credits being used to keep everyone honest?

I was thinking of joining BOB, but shy away from it after the semi-frequent posts with experiences similar to this one.

I'm not a big risk taker, and would hate to be the victim of swaplifting.
