Subject: Boxed Sets - Only 1 credit?

If I only get 1 credit for a boxed set, why would I put it up? Instead of listing each book indivdually? Is it simply because I'm less likely to get a request for each book individually or what? It seems kind of silly... Otherwise, I'm loving the site. :)

The listings are by ISBN -- so if each individual book has a different ISBN, you can post them that way.  I had a boxed set of three books that I listed separately.  I did offer the first person the other two and the box!  But they didn't want it -- they just wanted the one book.

If there's only one ISBN, though, then yes, it's one credit -- no matter how many books are in the set.

What people do with boxed  sets is offer them all together in the Book Bazaar.  For example, I once saw someone with a 3 book boxed set of His Dark Materials offer it for 3 credits--1 for each book--but packaged in the cardboard container.  It was snatched up quickly.  You just can't list it by the ISBN and get the 3 credits.

If there isn't an ISBN on each book you can post them seperately by using the Post w/o an ISBN option.  If you want to send them out all together with the box then your best bet is to advertise them in the book bazaar before posting them.

I've had good luck in the bazaar with box sets.

Well, right up until the Miss Marple box set.  No one seems to what that one. The rest were taken really fast.

Advertise it in the Book Bazaar and make it clear you want X # of credits for the set.  You just can't ask for more credits than there are books in the set.  This time of year, I bet someone'd snatch it up for a Christmas present.

hmmm this thread has given me some food for thought.  I do have a 4 book collection on my WL, and frankly would not mind one bit giving 4 credits for the set vs the 1 which now that I do think about it is really pretty unfair.  Of course I want the nifty box, and four lithographs that come with.  Also I already have the books, but not all in hard cover... which means I'll post mine if I ever get my WL, so not like I won't recoup eventually.

I guess I'll have to start perusing the Bazaar more often.

I tend to stay out of there because for some strange reason I always end up credit poor if I spend too much time there.

Tammy, you might be able to post a note in the Bazaar you are looking for that box set, and would be willing to pay for the book separately as long as the set was complete.  Someone might have it, but not be posting b/c of the 1 credit.
