This just occurred to me after getting involved with a transaction involving a boxed set - why aren't the boxed sets the same number of credits as the books they contain?

Can someone in the hierarchy explain that please?

Ah, the age old question.........

Who knows if that will change, but in the future, if each book has it's own isbn, list them individually to insure one credit per book.

Some people post only the first book in a boxed set, and then advertise on the book bazaar that they have the rest.  Or when the first one is ordered through FIFO, they PM the requestor, asking if they want the others.

I think because the database isn't reliable for determining if/how many books are in a box set, so they'd be hard pressed to do it.

Yes, Kayote has the right answer. We do not have a database that automatically tells us how many books are in a set. That is just not in our database, same as with audios, it doesn't show whether the audios are abridged or unabridged in the title or description, so no one is sure without looking them up. And until we get that reliable information on book sets, they won't be listed as multiple credit items.

The only alternative is to post them in your sig or in the bazaar, and hope someone who is interested in the set sees it. But, as is so often the case, like Kayote's Thieves' World set in her sig, someone looking will already have part of them and not want to get the whole thing. But, hopefully, she will find someone that is looking to start them and will take them!

Hope that answers your question.
