So can you choose the books that go into your box when you trade with someone?  Or do they just send you a box w/a specific genre?  I'm trying to decide to do this or offer better deals on my more easily available books.

I think with boxers (from what I've heard since I haven't joined yet) is that you find another boxer and look at their bookshelves and pm them with an offer and then they look at your shelf and if you have stuff they want then you mutually agree to swap. I havne't joined mainly because I don't have anything good on my shelf and I f ind too many great deals, even deals on buying credits. others post how much they  love being a boxer. If you read through some of the posts here you'll dsee the 'boxer' thingie under their name then click on their bookshelves and get an idea what they have and look at their wishlists to see if you have anything there or similar. But its' the only way you can trade here without exchanging a credit. Like, if I look at your shelf and see something I want and you want something I have I can't 'legally' ask you to swap with me though I can offer you a credit and you offer me one..which doesn't make much sense to me but those who pay ot be a boxer defend it :-) I'm just afraid I'd join then no one would wnt my stuff and I'd end up using credits anyways though I might join anyways just to support PBS financially...

Well it seems pretty cheap, like $9/yr right?  I might do what you suggested, check out some boxers shelves when I see the boxer symbol.  And see if I'd want to join.  Really I need to get rid of books not get more.  So maybe I shoud just do a 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deal.  I need to get reading first and post some more books.  I have a fairly small shelve compaired to some I've seen.

yep, it's pretty cheap and I'm like you, my shelf is usually small, mainly because I'm a keeper of almost everything! I just remember seeing some people's profiles/signature lines and posts whre they say they only want certain types of books for trades or they'll post that they can't find anyone to accept their box offers....others post how they really like it. from what I understand it's one of the ways PBS makes a little cash which never hurts. It could work if you like say, blaze titles, and you find someone to box with on those or you find someone with similar interests.

I hear you on the needing to read! I have so many books piled up right now it's unreal and the numbers keep growing as I hear about more stuff to read! and on top of the romance addiction I now have the mystery and chick-lit/hen lit addictions! :-0

I haven't done BOB either but it basically works how Susanna said.  You find another boxer, tell them what from their shelf you'd like.  They look at your shelf and you work out a deal for books.  Sometimes even exchange, sometimes you end up getting a couple more or less than the other person.

It's more a traditional swap between two people, rather than the credit for book swap the rest of the site uses.

I'm concentrating more on building up my shelf and offering deals.  I want to get rid of books, not see a whole heck of a lot more coming in.  Although I keep finding stuff to request!

Once you build up your shelf, post in the Book Bazaar forum with a deal.  You'll get lots of people looking over your stuff.

Yeah I think that's what I need to do-read and post then offer a deal of some kind.  I buy a lot of multi-book sets from ebay and I have a bunch I had not real interest in-I had bought it for another book in the deal.  I think I'm going to post those and if they go before I read them oh well.  I have the ones I got the set for anyway.
