Virginia Lanier's A Brace of Bloodhounds continues the adventures of JoBeth Sidden. JoBeth's a feisty Southern gal with an attitude, whose devotion to her highly trained and trusted bloodhounds involves her in kidnapping, corruption, drug smuggling, and every ornery law-enforcement puzzle that comes to light in her South Georgia town on the edge of the Okeefenokee Swamp.

This was a terrific murder mystery. Blood hound trainers, notes left from the dead, swamps. Lots of southern feeling to this series. This is book 3, but this will stand alone if you have not read the first two. I enjoyed this alot.

Wonderful book. I just recently found Virginia Laniers series about Bloodhounds. Great..

I see that most people gave this book a great rating. It bored me and I never finished - I got most of the way through and thought - what's the point. Just wanted to give another opinion. My husband liked it just fine.

When Gilly Ainsley shows up on Jo Beth Sidden's doorstep,t he smart and feisty bloodhound trainer & tracker is stunned by the woman's bizarre tale of deception and manslaughter. Gilly's mother wrote a letter before she died, a letter claiming that she would be murdered by the man for whom she kept house--a superior court judge-- and Gilly wants Jo Beth to bring the murderer to justice, at last.
Gilly's mother saw something she shouldn't have in the woods near the Okefenokee Swamp. Gilly & Jo Beth are in danger, too, and Jo Beth knows that the swamp guards its secrets well. Not only does Jo Beth take on the task of bringing this fat cat to justice, she also has to contend with finding a child abducted from under his parents nose before the worst can happen while avoiding her murderous ex-husband.

Good mystery with characters that you will want to see again.
