Ugh! I really didn't like this book at all. The heroine owns a bed and breakfast. Her best friend has sent her fiancee to stay at the bed and breakfast so he can finish writing his book in peace. Heroine and hero soon fall in love. Kissing ensues but the heroine pushes the hero away when she remembers her best friend. Another kiss, another push. Kiss, push, kiss, push. I threw the book against the wall.

For all Sloan Fairchild knew, Hollywood had moved to San Fransico when movie star handsome Carson Madison stepped into her elegant bed and breakfast inn. Though he wrote mysteries rather than movies Carter cast Sloan as the heroine of SLEEPING MISTRESS.... I liked the book.

This is the first romance novel I've ready by Sandra Brown and was pleasantly surprised how inviting and engaging the plot and storyline was. It did have some small typical romance novel cliches - woman and man love/hate then finally come together. However the journey to the happy ending was very entertaining and not ordinary or boring. I highly recommend this book to others who love romance novels and especially who like Sandra Brown. I also recently read one of her newest books, Lethal, and it was a great love story mixed in with a mystery and thoroughly enjoyed it was well.

Pretty standard romance novel fare-one of Sandra Brown's earlier works. Her newer books have more of a plot and more suspense.

Should Sloan betray her friend, or deny her heart? A deeply romantic story of a woman forced to examine her conscience and make a hard decision.

From Library Journal
While this novel won't likely be confused with Breakfast at Tiffany's, Brown's popularity is irrefutable. In this hardcover reissue of a 1991 romance, a woman is torn between loyalty to her best friend and lust for the friend's fiance.
