I have been waiting a long time to read this book. I was not disappointed by it.
It is the story of a man who takes in his neice when his sister is incapable of caring for her anymore. The sister has various problems and the neice is angry and out of control.
I thought Uncle Eddy did a good job of relating how that year went with her. However I thought that it seemed sort of glossed over. I have my own 13 year old. She's an honor student and still manages to make me want to tear my hair out. But I still understood the glossing. He loves her and wants to protray even her faults in the best possible light.
All in all a sweet and touching memoir of a family with real issues trying to move forward the best they can.

AWESOME MEMOIR
This is a story of a gay man raising his troubled teenage niece and the problems and triumphs they go through. I found it a little slow at times but the story kept me interested enough to want to keep going and see how it turns out.
Great book about a NYC gay man who takes his rebelious teen niece in to raise.
