The characters, especially our heroine Jade, were very well defined and interesting. The story kept my interest, and like any good Sandra Brown book, kept me reading long past bedtime!

The writing is good, with lots of descriptives. While I was impressed with the plot, and how it unravels (catching the reader off guard) I found the heroine's consistent line of "I just can't get over this" wore me out by the end of the book.

This is a somewhat interesting read. The plot is basically a revenge plot with a love story. There are some sad parts.

BREATH OF SCANDAL is my absolute favorite Sandra Brown story. I read it as a teen and have re-read it a few times over the years. Jade Sperry was an unforgettable character. I could never forget what happened to her...and how she triumphed! If you haven't read this one, grab it today!

Another winner from Sandra Brown. This novel is about Jade. As a high school girl in rural South Carolina, she is brutally raped by three of her classmates and left to die. She quickly learns that she'll never obtain justice through the legal system in small town America, since the sheriff's son is one of her attackers. Jade begins to plan her revenge instead.
The characters were very real, the situations authentic and it was difficult to anticipate what would happen next. Two of the villans in the book died before Jade was able to extract her revenge. The remaining two were partially beaten when Jade set up her sting operation.
I enjoyed the book immensely.

A more lighthearted murder mystery.

On a rainy Southern night, Jade Sperry endured a young womans worst nightmare at the hands of three local hell raisers. Robbed of her youthful ideals and at the center of scandal and tragedy, Jade ran as far and fast as she could. But she never forgot the sleepy "company town" where every man, woman and child was dependent on one wealthy family. And she never forgave their spoiled son, who with his tow friends changed her life forever. Someday, somehow, she'd return..exacting a just revenge, freeing herself from her enemies grasp and perhaps fulfilling a lost promise of love.

Fast paced book of revenge!
I just finished it, found it hard to put down.
I felt it was a little different for Sandra Brown's
writing. A lot of it was about revenge, but inspite
of that I found it interesting.

Well, I love Sandra Brown, I had read all of her books, but this one, for some reason I missed, well, after ordering it and wasting a credit, I couldn't even finish it, I've read other reveiws and I see I am the only one, but honestly, I am glad she got better... I am sure some day I WILL finish it, but right now, I can't even pick it up anymore!
A good book but I found myself thinking it read like a Danielle Steele novel (which isn't bad - just different).
Of all her books this has been my absolute favorite. Excellent story line and not too much passion which Sandra Brown is good for. I didn't want the book to end.
I loved this story. Couldn't put it down until I had it finishied.

This is not the cover. It is the black and white one with the trees.

Another great novel by Sandra Brown.
Jade was raped one day by three class mates-one of which was the richest family in town. Due to evidence being thrown out, the me were found not guilty. Jade swore she would get even one day and did she ever. She was able to wrestle the town from her enemy grasp and found love at the same time
Very good!
Jade Sperry's entire professional life is dedicated to one purpose: revenge. As a pretty and intelligent high school senior she is raped by three classmates, an attack instigated by Neal Patchett, the son of the most powerful man in Palmetto, S.C. No one, not even her own mother, believes Jade's tale, and her boyfriend, led to think she cheated on him, commits suicide. Jade vows to destroy all three boys, especially Neal. She has become pregnant from the attack, but she wins a full scholarship to college and takes her baby son with her. Even after she achieves professional success, her violent past will not allow her to enjoy healthy relationships with men--until she meets Dillon Burke, whom she hires to build the construction project in Palmetto that will spell financial ruin to Neal Patchett and his father.
Not the best Sandra Brown I've read. I felt this one was lacking the "mystery" element of the plot. Other than that, a typical Brown novel.
