Ok, so I'm reading his first book Way of Shadows and although it's good what's the big deal? I work in a bookstore and I can't keep Way of Shadows in stock although books 2 and 3 are a a little easier to keep in stock than the first one.

I have this on my wishlist.  The reviews go both ways but I think many people (myself included) want to find out for themselves if the book is any good or not.  I would be interested to know what you think MIke when you finish.

I've read the first two books and have really enjoyed them. I've got the third wish listed.

It's hard to say what makes it so good, only that it is really good. lol

Good story. Big books.

However, graphic violence, very sensual and a ton of hard profanity.

Derrick,

That description puts any book on my wish list.  Thanks.

I'm not sure I would describe either of the first two as sensual. I couldn’t say about the third.

The first book, especially the beginning of it, is very dark and graphic, dealing with homeless children and a lot of hardships they endure, including sexual abuse and mutilation.

I really enjoyed them.  I love finding new authors, especially when they have a full trilogy I can pick up and read together.

The beginning of the first book was slow for me, the book was my "Workout Book" which I took to read while on the bike at the gym, and I didn't feel any pull to read it elsewhere.  But boy when I got through the slow part...  I read it and the rest of the trilogy before I got to the gym again.  :D

I agree with Brandon, sensual is not the word I'd use.  Brutal perhaps.

In terms of quality I'd say Weeks is decidedly above average.  If I were going to try and place him in the genre I would say he is slightly better than Scott Lynch but not as good as Joe Abercrombie.

I just recently read book three. It was great. Am a bit sad it was only a triology. Maybe it'll get turned into a 'cycle' like the Inheritance books lol
