I LOVED this book. It took Deeanne 3 years to write and I consumed this book in a couple of days. This is a story of a very proper lady who gets kidnapped on a ship and taken to America. The boat ride is tough but she manages to survive to find out that she has been sold to someone to be his bride. Only to find that she is traded (in a poker game) to another man to be his bride. She is a lady she tells them. This can't be happening. No one believes her and she makes a deal with the man who ends up with her.
This story is of a smart, educated lady who tries her best to make it on a farm in early America. She learns much about life and love in the process. Some of this story was based on history(which the author mentions in the back of the book). The book will make you laugh out loud, make you cry and cheer. Deeanne makes you love these characters and you don't want the story to end.

I absolutely loved this book. The whole time I read it I envisioned Constance to be just like Nicole Kidmann in "Far and Away" with Tom Cruise. Because of the red hair and the saucy personality. This was definitely a good CLEAN romance.

A story of what happened to a woman brought over on a Bride Ship. Wonderful story! Gives you a side to the story of historical slave trade of women.....Not the same as today but a historical version. It is a happy story with twists and turns.
Loved it!

As a math teacher I was VERY intrigued by the math "puzzles," but as an avid Christian fiction reader I was more impressed with the flow of the story with humor, intrigue, suspense, and yes, love. Don't worry, the math DOES NOT take away from the story for those less math literate.
A Terrific first novel by Deeanne Gist. Would read anything she writes!
