A love story. Natalie Patterson moves into the country next door to Zeke Coulter. Natalie's son Chad obviously needs discipline after wrecking Zeke's carefully tended garden. Zeke angrily takes on the job, all the while unsuccessfully trying to dismiss Natalie's presence.

I enjoyed this book a lot...it was my first Catherine Anderson, and I'll definitely be getting my hands on some of her other books. I like the emphasis on family as well as romance, and the suspenseful elements of the book were good as well. Zeke, the hero, is rugged and old fashioned in the notion that he needs to take care of the heroine...just the way I like 'em!

In this one you have Zeke Coulter, who owns and runs a ranch supply store. He also recently bought a ranch bordering another ranch. When he comes home one day, he finds that his home has been vandalized by a 12 year old. He chases the boy to the neighboring ranch where he meets the kids mother, Natalie. Natalie is a divorced mother of two who is living with her odd family because her rich, creep of an ex-husband has not paid child support. Since she can't pay Zeke for the damages, she agrees to let her son work at Zeke's house to repay him. In the process, Zeke gets to know Natalie and her children, and despite the fact that he has never had any desire to get married and have kids, he finds himself falling in love with all of them. Things get complicated when Natalie's ex-husband is murdered and she is the main suspect.

Former rodeo star Zeke Coulter falls head-over-spurs in love with a talented single mom in Anderson's latest Coulter Family romance (following Blue Skies). The story starts out when Zeke discovers that his house has been vandalized. He chases Chad, the 11-year-old culprit, to a farmhouse where he spies the comely backside of his new neighbor, Natalie Patterson. Natalie, however, is Chad's mother, and the two get off on the wrong foot when Zeke insists that Chad work off the damage over the summer. An impoverished singer and songwriter, Natalie has more on her plate than just a difficult preteen; she also has a four-year-old daughter and a supper club that's on the verge of bankruptcy. Nevertheless, she and her kids pitch in to help Zeke repair his damaged house. Inevitably, love blossoms between the two, but their happily-ever-after seems less than assured when Natalie is accused of murdering her philandering ex-husband, a villain pulled straight from central casting. The bedroom scenes between the two strong-willed, slightly mistrusting protagonists are sweetly titillating, and Anderson's portrayal of Natalie's uncannily smart daughter is winning. Though conventional in plot and sketchy in setting, this is still a rewarding read.
