As I mentioned in a previous post, I had signed up for a trial membership on Audible (for my Kindle). I think you can listen to these books on your PC as well. Since my 3 month trial was up, I broke down and paid $14.95 monthly for a month to month menbership. Well, this month so far, I ordered Persona Non Grata by Ruth Downie, narrated by none other than Simon Vance and THEN, I got a membership appreciation reward for 10.00 credit (can you imagine that?) so I promptly headed to my WL on Audible and ordered Caveat Emptor (narrated by Vance again)! Woohoo I am so excited about listening to these but FIRST I have to read the second book in the series - Terra Incognita. I tell ya, that Simon Vance  could definitely get me addicted to audio books!!! crying

Jeanne you really got me started on audio books. Since your original post I have listened to 20 audio books (some I got from the library on CDs) and have about 11 or 12 ready to be next. I think audible has me on speed dial as I get emails about sales all the time.  I've gotten several from them for $5.95 and purchased 3 credits for $35.  When the 3 month trial was up I switched to the $22.95 plan which is for get 2 credits a month.  I got 5 or 6  books on CDs from half.com for $4 each (brand new still in the wrapping).  Mistress of the Art of Death was one of them.

It's all your fault, Jeanne!  lol

Donna - I looked at that special on the 3 credits for $35 but I thought, naw, I don't listen to enough audio books! Well, whoops! That was a mistake and I too have bought books on the 4.95 specials. I'll have to check on what they've got over at half.com. crying

Let me see, I seem to be responsible for "getting" some people on this forum hooked on mysteries and now you, Donna, on audio books! oh dear - I must be the devil in disguise! lol! devil

I signed up to get some audio books for my trip home.  Now on our trip to NC  W and I have been listening to Outlander he likes it.   I got 2 EC's I am going to have to get one by  Simon to see what all the fuss is about.  W's  Mom is listening to Outlander she's hooked.devil   I am going to keep my membership I have been going to sleep to audio books instead of the TV.  Loud commercials don't wake me up any more.  Love Davina Porters narration she's brilliant.

Yes  Jeanne all of them except the first Outlander which my girls bought me on CD.  Everyone of the audio books my library has that I wanted had waiting lists 10 miles long.  So I just got an audible account.

Vicky - back in the day when I lived in Illinois, I had a 50 mile commute each way to work - would that I could have listened to audio books then! What a lifesaver they would've been!! So glad that I wasn't responsible for your corruption!

Mea Culpa, Christa! I do the one credit a month too, but sometimes I succumb to the specials they offer! crying
