The book starts off a little slow, but it picks up quickly. I found the connections between law enforcement, politicians, the Winter Hill gang and La Cosa Nostra absolutely facinating. It's amazing how intertwined everything was and the control that the local mob had on the community, as well as the power obtained by Billy Bulger.

after reading this book I don't know how I could ever vote for anyone from Mass. or the east coast or anyone in public office already. I'm sure they are all crooks. My next book will be something light like War and Peace and Atlas Shrugged. Loved the book.

Very well researched account of the Bulger brothers. Makes one shake his/her head. Anyway, it was a very informative read.

A smashing true-crime book ...a rich depiction of a city gone bad and a superb meditation on personal and official orruption. Howie Carr brilliantly analyzes, scrutinizes, indicts...A howl of rage at the most hellish old-boy network imaginable.

Great book about two notorious Irish Gansters one acting like a politician and one the most prolific Irish ganster ever ! He is still on the run to this day on his 70th Birthday the F.B.I. doubled the reward for his capture,I don't think they will ever catch him. Good book.
