Please before everyone tells me I was stupid to buddy the credits before I got the money I got that point now. I have sold credits before in this manner and never had a problem but won't do it anymore. 2 people got me. One for 10 credits and another for 20. The one who got me for 20 credits told me how refreshing it was to see someone use the honor system. Too bad she doesn't follow the same code. It has been a month or more. What I want to know is two things. One is there anything I can do to recover either my money or credits from them and can I put up a post that names them and tell what they did for all to see. Would appreciate any help on this but please I don't need any lectures since I learned the hard way not to trust people. Thanks glo

That really really REALLY sucks and I'm sorry that it happened to you!  I think you should contact PBS.

Should I ever be in a position to have enough credits to sell (which might be never, since I spend them as soon as I get them), I thank you for the warning.

All you can do, I think, is contact PBS and hope there's a history of complaints. If it's a first complaint, PBS probably can't intervene without proof that you were never paid. If nothing else, reporting it might help catch them the next time :/

Send in feedback to the site. I doubt that they can do much, but they will want to know if a member is doing this to watch them. They will also let the member know that ignoring you is not an option on this site, communication is required.

It is not really accepted to call someone out by name in the forums. I know that it is really tempting to put their name out there so no one else gets caught by them, but its best to keep personal fights out of the forums.

I am really sorry this happened to you.  I bought credits from you in the past, and remember being so grateful that you were willing to buddy me the credits immediately so I could accept the wishlisted book I was offered.  I really hope you get the money owed you.

I think I bought credits from you and was so pleased how it worked out, I'm so, so sorry this happened. Ugh.

I'm sorry you had a negative experience, Gloria.

With regard to: << can I put up a post that names them and tell what they did for all to see>> the answer would be no, as this isn't permitted on the forums.  I don't know that PBS will intervene, but you can write to them and at least let them know, in case either member has a history of this sort of thing.

Kind regards,

Elizabeth

Definitely let the PBS team know the names of the members that did this.  Probably won't get you your credits back but at least it's on record with PBS.  Sorry that 2 people abused your trust like that.  Maybe next time only buddy them the 1 or 2 credits they need right away and wait to buddy the rest until you get payment.  At least you'd minimize your risk that way.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Sorry you got burned.

Thank-you all for your kind words and your suggestions. I will let the PBS know. I really don't expect them to get my credits or money but I don't want these 2 people to go unpunished. I feel so  much better being able to speak about it and get you guys input. THANK-YOU ALL from the bottom of my heart. GLORIA

I am so sorry you were taken advantage of but please do let the PBS team know.  You know your publicly sharing this is helpful to others who might be in a similar situation sometime.  Thanks for doing that.

How were these people supposed to pay you?  It's fraud and theft.  It probably falls into the internet crimes department which would be the FBI, but yours and their police departments might have something to help.  I know that in some cases in the past if you called in a complaint or could prove to the police department that there was a problem that could get a warrant for their arrest, if they were stopped in a traffic violation, the warrant would show up and they would be arrested.  You might try calling the police. Or sheriff's office depending on which has jurisdiction.  If it was supposed to be paid for through the mail, it might bring in the Postmaster General.  I'm not sure on any of these, so you might want to look into researching internet crimes and enforcement.

I'm really sorry that this happened to you.  Be assured that karma will deal with them.  What they put out in the world is what they are going to get back at some point and it will have increased in intensity by then.  Believe it or not,  there is some early scientific evidence pointing to the law of attraction works, and it's the same way for this only in reverse.

ETA - I believe that any time someone defrauds you or steals from you on this site, you should report it to the PBS team.  They don't know what is happening unless they are informed.  Keep your PM's about it so they can see them.  They can also see where any credits they got came from .  And I'm sure that TPTB do not look favorably upon members doing this to other members.

"since I don't use Paypal, I ask for e-gift cards (Amazon, Borders etc), and buddy the credits when I receive an (gift card) e-mail from whatever site."

Les, that is an interesting suggestion regarding the e-gift cards. I have loads of credits, but I never try to sell them here because I absolutely refuse to use PayPal. I had a very bad experience with them in regards to a transaction on Ebay. A year later, and I am still fighting with them over it. (There is an entire website devoted to people who have been ripped off by them called PayPalsucks.com.)

I really like that e-gift suggestion though, I may give it a try.

If the accounts are still active and they have the credits in them, the Team will take them from their account and return them to you.  If they do not, they will most likely freeze their accounts until they have paid you (or maybe close them permanently).

I don't use PayPal and have bought credits several times.   I know I'm taking a chance but I sent the seller a MO, when received they send me the credit.   I do have a couple of people who I buy from time after time.

I am so sorry you got burned on this.

That really stinks! I am pretty sure I have purchased credits from you before and the transaction was quick and easy. :0)  I am really sorry you got burned like that and I would totally report them to PBS. :0)

I hope you get this resolved!   I think reporting to PBS is a good idea in case there are a pattern of complaints.

But I do not think PBS should be stepping in to take credits away unless the other party admits in a PM what they did (and I'm assuming you didn't get a na-nanny-boo-boo I got your credits and didn't pay PM).  It's really your word against theirs that they didn't pay, and while I believe you, who's to say someone else won't make trouble by falsely accusing someone?  That's the same reason I agree with PBS's policy on not naming names - it would soon devolve into an ugly he said/she said type of argument.

I am fairly new to PBS but why wouldn't someone who wants to buy credits buy them directly from PBS, since it appears you can?

Because it can be much cheaper buying them from someone directly.  The Kiosk is $3.45/credit where people generally sell them in a range of 4.80-3.00. For 20 credits that $9-$13 savings.

I will let you know the outcome. But I don't expect PBS to get my credits back but I want them aware of the situation. As for it being my word against theirs. I have the pm's from the one with her acknowledgement that she owes me the money. The other one has just totally ignored me. gloria

Gloria - they should be able to track you sending the credits.  They may not be able to  do anything but this is theft.  Do you have a PM saying that they would send you the money later, how did you make the arrangement in the first place.  I am just trying to see if there is a way to help.
