I recently rec'd a requested book that I started reading right away.  Guess how surprised I was to find tiny dead bugs  on 5 different pages.  Soooo, I won't repost it, but

has anyone else ever had this happen?

OMG. Gross. No.

Lol, I'd probably send the person a delicately worded PM about checking future books.

Did the bugs come out  clean or leave gut stains?

Lol, I know it's gross, but if they didn't stain the book, then I'd repost if I didn't think it was a keeper.

I had a book that was lost in Memphis for 4 months.  When it finally did arrive, there were bugs in the packing tape.  Took that one outside to carefully check.  I do not want paper mites near my books!

ewww!  Sounds like you got a free gift that you didn't want.  sad  I would pm them as well and nicely find a way to tell them that although you appreciate the book, you don't appreciate the bugs.  (I'm wondering if there is a nice and not snarky way to write that up...)

We should start an old wive's tale about what good luck bookworms can be.  All we need is for Jeanne to hit the lottery or something...

p.s. seriously, ew...gross.

Well, now that one RC i got a few months back asking that "no book come from a home with bedbugs" makes a little more sense! :)

I got a BOB book one times with bugs smashed inside. It was so gross I tossed it immediately. She sent me another book to replace it and claimed she didn't notice.  I don't know how anyone could not notice dead bugs in a book. Oh and these weren't little tiny bugs but like a hug hornet type bug.

They were tiny dried up little things, no guts on the pages.  I guess they could have hatched on the way here, but you'd think they would have left fresh gut marks then.

I'm not going to PM the sender this time as I'm avoiding negativity in this club.

I took some freebie books from the local library years ago and found a guppy smashed inside one.  So nasty- it was long dried, but you could still see all the squished out internal organs and everything.

I have seen cats reading and dogs reading.  I guess bugs like to read too.
