Posted a WL book this am and was given option to send to friend who had it on her WL rather than #1 person on list.  This is probably only gold memer benefit I will use.

But I wonder if this is why I have gotten 4 friend requests from prople I have noooooo contact with??

Probably because they saw your gold key when you posted.  They then request to be your friend to get a potential of being able to get a wish list book that you post to your friends list.

Maybe they checked your WL and saw they would be able to post to you!

I don't care if people friend me because I have a Gold Key membership.  It's always my choice to send to them or not.

I have had more friend requests in the last week since becoming a Gold Key member than I had in the previous six months all together. Like Cosi says, you don't have to send to your friends...I have PBS friends who I have friendships with and then I have PBS friends that I haven't a clue who they are, given a choice I will post to people I know, otherwise I will go FIFO, which is only fair in my book.

Yeah, I'll admit that I've sent a few friend requests out to Gold Key members I've seen and chatted with on forums... :)

But as others said, the Gold Key members still have a choice of which of their friends to send books to or to just post a book FIFO.

I had a couple extra people pop up on my list this last week. It never occured to me until now that this is the reason. I always assumed that I'm just flat-out awesome and now I'm crushed. The books! It's always about the books!!!

I have it set to autorequest.  I don't care who really wants to friend me.  It's not like they get special access to my account or anything.  If extra people want to "friend" me because I have the gold key membership go ahead.  I don't even know how many people were on my friends list to begin with other than that it was less than 200. So I probably wouldn't even be able to tell unless it increased by quite a bit.

I have mine set to auto-request too. And with the gold key thing, I'll probably initiate more friends requests with people that seem to have similar reading interests to mine. Might as well take advantage of the gold key benefits!

Well, crap.  I thought it was my sparkling personality, LOL!

I accepted a few new friends recently, too. Coolio. It's all good.

I have had a few too, but I also realized that some were also GK members.

I don't have a gold key and have gotten a few friend requests this week.  I attributed it to joining a few new swapgames this week.

I can  see Gold Key members doing this too.  Putting out lots of friend requests to increase their chances of finding people to ship multiples too or that won't let the request time out. Although I have learned that a WL offer going to an active forum user doesn't mean it won't time out with no response.

Lisa--Always good to make the aquaintence of a fellow Pom lover!  Puppy Dog (that's my dog's actual name--and the one pictured in my avatar) is getting up there in years, she's about 12 now, and getting a little crotchety, but we still love her :)

I have two oldsters also. Mist is 13, Cosmo... I have no idea how old, just that he is ancient. He was a rescue I got two years ago.

I sent some friend requests lately but it was before gold key.  I hadn't been active on the forums in a couple years and started reading/posting again.  I initiated friend requests to a few I saw who had shelves I wanted to remember because they had a bunch of books I was interested in for my kids.

I got 4 friend add-ons ( not requests because mines on auto)  in two days and I'm not even a Gold key member.

I dont mind at all though . But I do wonder why .

They  might be gold key members and noticed that they have similar reading tastes as you. So they're friending you so they're list of friends is longer.
