Powerful autobiography is a must read if you are curious about the plight of women in other cultures.
Hard to believe there are still places in this world where women are considered of no worth at all.

Harrowing true story of life as a woman in a small Palestinian village.
This woman was one of the very few who have escaped the slavery and torture endured by so many.

This should be required reading in high school.

Interesting look at another culture and people stuck in time. A very honest and touching account of a survivor's struggle...and her ultimate happiness.

This is one of the most emotional books I've ever read. Nothing has made me appreciate where I was born than this book. Souad, whose name has been changed for her protection, is so brave, and through it all kept her faith in Allah. She is brave even when she doesn't want to be. She has worked so hard to make it to the place she is now in life. Warning: this book is not for the faint of heart. I am still having nightmares from it.
