Welcome back to the 7th HOUSE OF NIGHT book. BURNED is a novel that plays more of a role in bridging the past stories to the future of the House of Night.

Zoey is stuck between here and the Otherworld. Her soul was shattered upon witnessing the death of Heath. The only way she can return is by putting the pieces of her soul back together. Stark, her warrior and guardian, has to find a way to reach her in the Otherworld and guide her back.

Stevie Rae has secrets of her own back at the House of Night. She has imprinted with a raven-macher but cannot let the other Red Fledglings know it has happened. Rephaim is torn between Stevie Raes goodness and his tendency to the dark.

And over in Europe, Aphrodite uses her prophecies to help guide them all in the quest to bring Zoey back.

Read by Caitlin Davies, BURNED is just as addicting as the previous books in the series. Starting from the beginning moments with Zoey witnessing Heaths murder, Caitlin is able to keep the pace of the story fast and heart-pounding.

Ms. Davies has a youthful quality to her voice that brings each of the characters alive. She convincingly portrays each of the characters, female and male alike. It was easy to keep track of which character was speaking simply by the inflection Ms. Davies utilized. Her voice was a pleasure to listen to and kept me entertained up until the final chapter on disk 10.

If I have any complaints it would only be this - the first books in the series were read by Jenna Lamia; TEMPTED and now BURNED have been read by two different narrators. Not that the narrators arent good; in fact, theyre quite talented, but the consistency is missing, which wouldve been nice to see.

Outside of that one small complaint, the HOUSE OF NIGHT books on CD are a great way to enjoy the series. Just be sure you can listen undisturbed so you dont miss a moment!
