This has got to be the most stupid thing ever! It will put our troops in danger,It will also try and tie 9/11 and Islam together again. Why must people be so stupid.Remeber when that dutch guy drew the cartoon how much trouble that caused ! This would be huge ! Our troops would be sitting ducks.I have no idea what this so called preacher thinks this will accomplish,It.s 100 percent hatemongering pure and simple. This Preacher is preaching hate! just what we need another idiot supposedly called on by God to spread his word. this disgusts me.

People can be so ridiculous.  If you're that religious, why not do something productive, like volunteer for a soup kitchen/Habitat for Humanity/nursing home/whatever.

The only reason I  can think of is that Oh No! You might not get as much attention by doing something rational!

Well, we know that they'll target US troops anyway, my thought is why did he come up with this particular idea to protest Islam? That's a classic Nazi maneuver. Oh and by the way, they burn US flags, bibles and our leaders in effigy in the Middle East all the time. Not a peep.

It was all about attention for him. His prior church in Germany has distanced themselves from him when his ego came too much into play. Same story, different verse:  http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/europe/09/09/germany.quran.jones/index.html?iref=allsearch

Let me be the voice of reason here: that "dutch guy drew the cartoon" *DID NOTHING WRONG*. He has every right to exercise his right to free speech. He made a political commentary on how violent portions of Islam are, and the response was violence from Islam -- proving his criticism correct. He was making a comment that should have invoked a positive reaction -- the moderates and peaceful Mulsims should have rejected the violent fringes -- not embraced them.

That said, Terry Jones is not making the same sort of comment. His comment is not that Islam is unreasonably violent and barbaric, his comment is that no matter how peaceful a Muslim is, they are inherently evil. He is not trying to cause a reform, he is merely spouting hate based on which pack of myths they choose to follow them -- and not how they choose to follow them.

Extactly, V. Can we please stop feeding this troll. So many people are trying to work toward a better understanding between those of different faiths and then we have the jerk who get all the press.

We all have to play in the same sandbox but this guy needs a time out.

I agree the dutchman had every right to  draw that cartoon no one at that time ever imagined the up roar it caused stupid really, My point was if they got so mad over a cartoon how mad would they be over burning there Holy Book. We must remember alot of the middle east gets very little outside news except what the goverment wants them to know thats why they burn our flags and so on they actually think in some of the smaller places in the midddle east that we dont let them build mousqe in America or freely worship Islam. I figured it was a publicity stunt but a stupid ignorant one!

Unfortunately, I read in the paper that he is now considering moving his church to Tampa. We have enough wackos here, go to Miami!

Did you guys hear about that little church picketing that funeral of that soldier (for supposedly being gay)?  I heard that the pastor was a lawyer before but got his license revoked after making a witness cry in court.  How can people be religious and put people down like that?   I thought religious people aren't to judge others?

Unfortunately those lovely Christians are from my home state of Kansas.  The head of the church, Fred Phelps, was an attorney.  Almost all of his children who are still a part of his flock are attorney's also.  They are a vile nasty bunch.  I think what disgusts me the most is they will put the most horrific signs in the hands of a child who has no idea what they are doing.

One of his children left home at 18 and is an afirmed athiest--Imagine!

Writing a book on growing up in that household.

Yes I also am from Ks and I wish they would move some where else. They are the most ignorant people ever I can;t believe they went to college you would think they had lived in a backwoods cabin somewhere. They are horrible people and if there was a God I highly suspect they would be on the Sh#t list

A civil rights attorney, at that. That really boggles my mind.
