London detective sergeant Dennis Milne is the main character in Kernicks debut novel and what a character. After years of dealing with London crime, he has finally decided to pursue justice in his own way as a cold-blooded hit man. Things begin to come apart when the drug dealers he thought he was taking out turn out to be a civilian and two customs agents. At one level an excellent police procedural as Milne works to solve the murder of a young hooker, on an other level a fascinating look into the real world of crime and what it does to people on both sides of the ledger. I look forward to more from Mr. Kernick.

I had looked forward to reading this one since I've already read a few of his other works, but this one just came up short for me, it is way too long and just too much descriptions and sometimes it goes on for pages and pages, so I skipped and skimmed and found all the information I needed to know and finished it quickly so I can move on to something else.
