Okay, so I'm currently working on THREE reading challenges, courtesy of the demented clever ladies in this forum.  I'm not complaining, oh no.  But why am I doing this?  Why, to whittle away at Mount TBR, that's why.  And so...should I really allow myself to read one book for two different categories?

NO.

So I've altered my lists.  No duplicates.  I'm farther behind now, which is my own personal definition of "demented" "clever"...but I'll feel much better when I've read 43 individual books this year, right?

Right.

Jeanne...thanks!  I have lots of books that don't fit, and that I want/need to read, and so I anticipate reading frantically between Christmas and New Year's Eve to finish all three challenges. cool

I'm making headway, but I confess to using several books for more than one challenge. I don't think I could accomplish as much without. After awhile, it begins to feel too much like work. LOL.

Genie...I was feeling guilty because I kept reading books that weren't on my lists.  Self-imposed guilt...it's just lovely!  blush

When the year first started, I was not going to count a book more than once. I bailed out on that idea pretty quickly though. I'm just counting myself in good shape when I can remember which category the book I'm reading fits. ;-)

Oh good. I'm not alone. I was gonna start feeling guilty. But I really, really don't need to do that. angle

Hi, John. We see you, you know. Don't be shy. We don't bite.

Much.

Challenges are fun but I was getting way too hung up on them. I finished  the first HF challenge and am working on HF challege 2 and the mini mystery challenge when I can tear myself away from whatever I am currently reading.  My other PBS challenges are coming along too for the same reason!  Challenges just give me a goal and instead of cutting down my TBR pile I build it higher.  So it goes!

Ruth, I hear you! I thought that I could cut down on my TBR when these started and instead I have more books and have also checked books out of the library - aarrrgggh! I signed myself up for the 3 HF challenges and the M/T challenge and found myself fretting over how to get this done. It started taking the fun out of reading for me, so off I went in all kinds of directions!!

I love the challenges.  Occassionally I end up with something I didn't like much, and wouldn't otherwise have tried, but it assures that I venture at least a little outside my tried and true comfort zone.  And far more often, I really enjoy it.  I, too, decided not to use any books for more than one challenge or category, and my total challenge count is 50.  About half of my reading so far has been challenge related, and I'm at about 50% in all my challenges, so I'm on pace and should have no trouble finishing.  I'm going to turn my attention to them a little more in July and get ahead of schedule, maybe finish one off.  We'll see.

I'm only participating in a few challenges this year and although I think I'm doing OK with reading the books on my list, I"m afriad I am very far behind in posting the links in the appropriate places.  I always seem to forget about that part...
