ISBN 059044185x - I've had a dozen or so copies of this book pass through my hands and wind up in the garbage... because they've been read to shreds! Any book that will get that much loving from any kid is worth taking a peek at.

Not much of a storyline - a bee sat on a duck, who quacked and sat on a hen, who... well, you'll have to find out on your own who sat on who and what they all said.

The storyline, of course, isn't the point. There's plenty of time for storylines, but without reading skills, they'll never get there. Books like Buzz Said the Bee are a nice starting point for little readers. The font is quite large, there is not too much text on any one page, and the text is simple, rhyming and funny. All of that is accompanied by cute and colorful illustrations. The expressions on the animal's faces alone are worth the time it takes to breeze through this title with your young scholar. He or she may memorize it before they can read it, because you're going to read it to them hundreds of times. And you'll enjoy doing it - it's that good.
