Has anyone else read these? I happened upon the first one when it came out and was immediately hooked. It may be because the land is as much a character and anyone else and I am familiar with that particular landscape...northern Wyoming/mountains etc. Anyhow, Box has a new, "stand alone" mystery coming out on Tuesday that I am very anxious to get my hands on. It's called "Blue Heaven" and I believe it takes place in Idaho. It looks like it could be a winner. Anyone else a C.J. Box fan?

Me, me, me!  I bought the first Joe Pickett book at a used bookstore while I was vacationing in Texas two years ago, read it on the airplane ride back to South Carolina and then quickly sought out the remainder of the series. I, too, love the Wyoming wilderness and the part it plays in Box's mysteries. I've got Blue Heaven on reserve at the library. Can't wait for that phone call!!

I just listened to the one about Yellowstone Park.  It was great. I never seem to read mysteries like this but I love them when I listen to them.

You really should read Craig Johnson's books. They have the same feeling of the land as character. Start at the beginning if you can.

I've read all three of Johnson's books and I am anxiously awaiting word of a fourth! Johnson's stuff is quite funny. :)

Thanks for the tip, Anne! I looked at Johnson's website http://www.craigallenjohnson.com/ , and his books do look interesting. I might try the first one from the local library and then see about ordering the others.

I just met C.J. Box! He had a book signing at a local independent bookstore so I went to the event. What a positively charming man. Very funny and very engaging. When he signed books he actually spent quite a bit of time chatting with each person. If he comes to your neck of the woods you should take yourself out to meet him. His latest book, Blue Heaven, is really good and the the next Joe Pickett book will be out in May. Woohoo!! :) (And no, I'm not on his payroll! LOL! I'm just a big fan.)
