My 18 yr. old daughter has a fascination for ancient Rome and read this when she was about 14, and is now reading it again. She says it's a fantastic book and very enjoyable reading.
I've enjoyed all of Colleen McCullough's books on ancient Rome. They are extremely well-researched and thorough.
