This is a very moving novel about a family's struggle to deal with the loss of two children at the hands of a schizophrenic man.

This was a good book about a girl's struggle with tragedy in her life. There was a really heavy emphasis on Mormon religion, which for me just made the story more authentic and interesting, but it might put some people off. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Excellent book! I think that anyone that has lost a loved one to violence will learn something new about forgiveness. This was a very touching book.

A decent read. Ran too quick and simple at the end.

Very good story but for me it was too long and drawn out.

I loved this book! I loved the characters and totally felt thier pain and thoughts. Mitchard wrote like a genius. I seriously could not put this book down. This book was so thought provoking and emotional, and I even liked learning about the Mormon background. I honestly don't know what else to say, this work just intertwined everything it means to be human and I was so moved while reading it! A MUST READ!!!!

I read this book in one evening! Could not put it down even though I was bawling half the time I was reading it! Very good and very emotionally draining! Not light read but wonderful if you want to be completely immersed in a book!

This book was excellent and will bring out the emotions of any parent. I had already cried 3 times by chapter 8!

I have read several of the authors books and it is hard to pick a favorite. This one follows the 12 year old sister as she and her family learn to cope with the horiffic circumstances that took the lives of her younger twin sisters.

The ending will surprise you....keep reading till the very last page.

I very much enjoyed this book and almost always enjoy the author. It was interesting to me as it tells the story of a tragedy that happens in a Morman family and how the eldest child is affected by that tragedy throughout her childhood and young adult life.

I enjoyed this book immensly. The story line is not one I've heard often and there was no way to predict the outcome.
The reader does a fantastic job, which is a very important aspect of audio books.

I didn't like the ending. Maybe I'm just not evolved enough... but since there is little justice in this world, I at least like to find it in my books. This one was disappointing in that respect.

I learned so much about the Mormon community - which I think is interesting in itself - but this was also a personal-conflict story with a surprising ending.

Very good book about a young girl whose life is changed when her sisters are brutally murdered.

A very good book, with a powerful story. It fell a little flat at a few points, and so wasn't perfect, but was still well worth reading. It's a good powerful story about grief, tragedy, and forgiveness. Veronica is a believable narrator, and lets you feel her pain as she tells her story. Definitely worth the time spent reading it.

Superb script captivating story of hardship fear and angst in a young girl who blames herself throughout all of her young teen life. A tearjerker at times it will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions.

This was an easy read--interesting view of a family torn apart by murders and the aftermath. Although the story was a good read (and I âenjoyedâ it) , I didn't feel too invested in the characters as much as I felt I should have given the subject matter.

A heart-wrenching tale of a sisters loss and overcoming the past. Very sad book. The reader will expect more but will be satisfied with the book

Deals with a very hard subject but was an excellent book. How one pivotal event shapes the remainder of your life. If you haven't read this, you should.

WOW--very in depth about feelings and how the Mormon church affects its members. Very well written--especially for not being written by a Mormon. Could NOT put it down!

This was a very good book. I read it in two days...had a very hard time putting it down! It was a very moving story, and a wide range of emotions were shown. I like how it followed the main character as she grew up, what she was feeling, and what her motivations were for her actions. I would recommend this book to anyone!

I was a little disappointed. I just couldn't get into it. Maybe it was the style of writing (narrated by 12 year old...which is would normally love)...so I'm going to pass it on to someone else!

I really enjoyed this book. It was an easy read for me. I loved how it told the story of a family in sorrow and how you can overcome things not only in faith but also within your self and that sometimes people are not always what they seem. This story kept me page turning from one after the other!

I read this for a book club, and it was a fast read and it did keep me interested. I enjoyed the information about the Mormon community, I read that the author has good friends that are Mormon, and she lived with them awhile before writing this book. The authors style is much like Jodi Picoult. I will say that a few times I found the dialog confusing, but overall, I enjoyed it because of the lessons it teaches about forgiveness and how each of us has may have to take a different path to find redemption and to be willing to forgive others.

I was very disappointed in this book. I rec'd it from a friend, who as far as I know is feligion-neutral and sophisticated in literary taste. This book rates right up there with something you might five your 12-15 yo relative, who is questioning her Mormon faith. The author states her intention as exploring Mormon faith and its effect upon an adolescent believer who experiences a hedeous trauma. Through the years I have met a fair number of Mormons who have told me beliefs of the church, attitudes toward women, attitudes toward the body and sex, that simply did not show up in this book. Therefore, I do no think the author met her goal Secondly, schizophrenia and the effect of drugs upon it is poorly represented. Scizophrenia is not a one-shot-kill-a-bunch-of-people-then-take-your-drugs-and-be-OK kind of a disease. If you would like to find out what Jacquelyn Mitchard knows about the Mormon faith and schizophrenia, read it!
