I have always been a J Mitchard fan but this is by far her most complex and rewarding work. The story holds just the right amount of drama and full-fledged characterization and comes to a satisfying end. The reader on this audio version successfully distinguishes each of the voices, bringing them to life in a subtle yet convincing way. Mitchard did her research about Mormonism, emergency medical technicians, depressive disorders and other relevant issues so that the details included were accurate without being instructional. I really loved listening to this. The perfect audio book.

This audio book kept me in suspense although I cringed my way through it.
So truly believable, sad and unique as well as unpredictable. I am glad I chose to read it. I cared about the young girl as well as the mentally ill killer. Many things to consider about whether forgiveness is the best choice to make when the injustice happens to an innocent family.

The overall story was good. I enjoyed the reader's voice. There was some mis-information regarding the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. However, most of it was minor and not malicious.
