This is pretty much what the title says it is. The content is covered in a rather dry fashion, but honestly, I don't know how much better you could do it. I would by no means say this is a thorough look at the subject material, but rather a quasi-cursory introduction of calculus of variations. I've done a lot of grad level electromagnetics courses and this has served as a good filler for some stuff since I've never taken this subject in a formal classroom setting.
